It’s been one year since I’ve tweeted this out: One year to the day, actually. Over the past few days I’ve re-read every response to this tweet. Ive gone back to the OnTexasFootball message boards and read every response on a thread where a poster asked for prayers for my son. I’ve thought about a lot, including what I would write when this day finally came. I thought about writing about the journey that was filled with twists and turns at damn near every stop. How we went back into the hospital twice since then. I’ve thought about writing about that night that was filled with so much uncertainty. Where doctors and nurses filled his ICU …

FWIW, she was spot on in last week’s projections. Ohio State, Indiana, Texas A&M, Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Texas, Tech, Oregon, Notre Dame, Texas, Oklahoma and BYU are her top 12 in that order.

During the bye weekend, I kept hoping someone ahead of us would get knocked off. It didn't happen. Our loss to Florida is the arrow that remains stuck in our arm. How did we lose to that team? Now we have to win out. Georgia is beatable, but we can't allow their quarterback to throw all over the field which he likes to do. He has a gunslinger mentality. If our defense comes to play, unlike the 4th quarter with Vandy, we should be good. Now we enter the final games to see what we are made of and how we handle adversity. Let's go!

Before he parlayed his red-hot finish while leading Texas to an overtime road win over Mississippi State into a banner performance in last Saturday’s 34-31 triumph over Vanderbilt, Arch Manning proved he could handle pressure. According to Pro Football Focus, Manning has been pressured 122 times through nine games, tying him with South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers for the second-most pressures faced among FBS quarterbacks. He’s produced when the heat has been on him; the 11th-ranked Longhorns hit their second bye week of the regular season with Manning carrying a PFF season-long grade of 68 when facing, tied for the eighth-best grade in FBS among quarterbacks who’ve b…

I’m gonna assume Texas will be #9 in the upcoming CFP Poll. They are tied for OU in the new AP Poll at 10. Committee has shown to value H2H, so Texas could be at #9 when the playoff poll releases. I think as long as we don’t get embarrassed in Athens and we beat A&M, we will get an at large bid. We just CANNOT get blown out. A 3-7 point loss to UGA doesn’t hurt shouldn’t hurt us that bad. Clearly we want to win. Just think we have more wiggle room to get in as a 9-3 team.

Steve Sarkisian and Chris Gilbert are on the road in DFW today, after watching Waxahachie last night. Sark and Gilbert are expected to be by Euless Trinity to see 5-star 2027 CB John Meredith III today. Meredith III is considered a Texas A&M lean. Texas Tech is being very aggressive here right now. Meredith III is expected to attend a Texas home game later this month.

Our free throw shooting is off. We seem lethargic out there. We are up at halftime but Coach is not happy.

Texas has offered 2026 North Forney ATH Legend Bey, a current Tennessee commit, Friday afternoon. Bey is a freakish athlete. He plays quarterback and has offers at the position, but long term his highest ceiling position is at receiver in my opinion. I watched him at the Under Armour Dallas camp earlier in the year where he shined at the receiver spot in 1 on 1’s. Bey boasts elite speed, clocking a wind-aided 10.23 time in the 100m in April. Previously he had been sitting in the low 10.6’s. Sarkisian is in DFW, and this offer should be something to monitor moving forward.

I was playing around with the big12 record calculator. If BYU were to win today, TTU ends up 7-2 in conference and Utah and ASU were to win out and finish 7-2 in conference… The championship game would be Utah and BYU despite Utah’s head to head loss. The Big12 rules move away from head to head if there is a 3 way tie and changes to opponent record. If BYU were to beat Utah Big12 would certainly only get 2 teams in. Weird scenario, but maybe more possible than BYU being left out of CFP with only 1 regular season and a conference championship loss. That being said, TTU with 2 regular season losses and a conference championship loss also w…

Texas picked up a verbal commitment from Abilene RHP George Ferguson today. We’ll have more later, but this is a big addition for the Longhorns.

The winner of the American Conference is most likely going to be selected to the College Football Playoff as the 12 seed, even if they aren't ranked in the CFP Top 25, just like Memphis was this past Tuesday. After beating Memphis last night, Tulane has taken a step closer toward the CFP. Five teams in the American have 1 conference loss: Navy, South Florida, North Texas, Tulane, and East Carolina. East Carolina carries 3 losses overall, so if they won the conference, they would likely not be the committee's selection. - - - - - - Resumes Tulane and South Florida each have wins over Power 4 Teams: Tulane: Northwestern, Duke South Florida:…
