I've seen some speculation about the NCAA potentially making 5 to play 5 take effect immediately for last year's seniors. This would mean another year for guys like Jordan Pope and Weaver. Has there been any discussion of this? If it happened, would Texas have room for any of these guys at this point or would they have to portal? Of course it would make more sense to have it take effect next year, but you never know...

Including last Saturday’s open practice, five Longhorns are trending in the right direction coming out of spring football. I’m not predicting that these players will start for Texas in 2026 or have significant roles. Still, there are five Longhorns whose stock has gone up relative to where I thought it was when spring practice began in March. With spring practice in the books, it's time for a snapshot of the 2026 Texas depth chart. This is a combination of where guys stood at the end of spring practice and projections of how players who missed portions of spring football will fall in the pecking order when they're back to 100 percent. The On Texas Football staff didn't put the four incoming summer transfers (Laurence Seymore and Paris Patterson Jr. on the offensive line, linebacker Darius Snow and defensive back Nick Hudson) on the depth chart. On the defensive depth chart you had 13 positions listed. What are the 11 positions in a base defense? Not necessarily the players names, but the positions. I know it is different on 1st & 10 vs 3rd & 15. But the majority base. Thx.
