On Texas Football Forum

A place where fellow Longhorns can discuss Texas Football, Sports and Recruiting with one another and the staff of On Texas Football.

  1. I've been quite curious which big time recruits we are going "all in" for this year. In the last few years there have been a handful of guys that we have basically refused to lose out for. Guys that perhaps we were behind for and surged ahead or flipped from another school. This seems like great strategy.. spend big NIL on guys at positions of need that will play early, potentially hurting rival schools that have the same need. 2025 Justus Terry, Jaime Ffrench, Josiah Sharma, Myron Charles, Kade Phillips (less dramatic recruitments in the year Lance Jackson, Jonah Williams, Lockett) 2026 Tyler Atkinson, Richard Wesley, Derrek Cooper, James Johnson (less dram…

  2. Texas women's basketball had added Oklahoma transfer guard Zya Vann on Friday morning, OTF has learned. “Texas is the best place for me to grow because of the elite culture and standard the coaches and players hold themselves to every day,” Vann said. “I am excited to be part of something that’s built to win at the highest level.” The junior guard from Edmond, Okla. is the first pledge for Vic Schaefer and the Texas women in the transfer portal window. “We are so excited to welcome Zya Vann to our Longhorn family,” Texas head coach Vic Schaefer said. “When looking to add someone to our program, we’re searching for the total package—and that’s exactly wh…

  3. Invite to All OTF/OG folks: Please join us at the Posse East immediately after the practice on Saturday. We'll be heading over there following the scrimmage. The first cold one is on me! For those unfamiliar with the Posse, it is about .25 miles north of the stadium just off campus. For you old-timers, it's also where The Clash recorded part of their music video for Rock The Casbah. The address is: 2900 Duvall St, Austin, TX 78705

  5. We are hosting a trivia game on our YouTube Channel on Thursday night. As part of the game, we have to get some feedback from true Longhorn fans. Pls take this survey. Your answers matter! One of your own will be competing against OTF on Thursday night! https://forms.gle/HXH6xWoLeq9m8B4u6

  6. AUSTIN, Texas — The 2024 Texas defense was a national championship-caliber unit. Even when the offense struggled, the defense’s knack for the football and their ability to keep opponents out of the end zone positioned the Longhorns painfully close to getting over the College Football Playoff semifinal hump. One of the things that made Pete Kwiatkowski’s group elite was the defense’s ability to create havoc plays. When the curtain fell on a 16-game season, Texas ranked among the nation’s leaders with 22 interceptions (tied for first), 18 forced fumbles (No. 3) and 112 tackles for loss (No. 6). Calculating havoc rate isn’t complicated. It’s the combined number of …

  7. Listen, I know a lot of you don't believe Monshun Sales and Easton Royal would both be in the same class... but considering the fact that we expect Wingo and Coleman to be gone, not to mention Arch and a litany of others, there would be ample NIL there for both. Anytime a recruit seeks out contact, your ears perk up. If they do get on campus at the same time, I could see the staff and Wingo/Coleman pitching what they have now as a precursor to what they could be together. Sure.. it's a stretch to think this kid would leave the midwest.. especially with Ohio St. in the fold, but if the team reaches the heights we all hope for and expect, I think it becomes a true possibili…

  8. Four-star TE Jaxon Dollar tells OTF he won't be visiting Texas today after all and a reschedule date is TBD. Notre Dame and Georgia are two schools trending for him, particularly the Fighting Irish.

  9. His top 3 has been set since early March. With a May 9 decision date, it's hard to envision this one going Texas' way. The Longhorns are high on Caldwell but as OTF has noted, Briceson Thrower - and now likely Monshun Sales - is the focus to add at the moment to go with Easton Royal.

  10. 5-star John Meredith III back in Austin North Crowley 5-star cornerback John Meredith III will be back in Austin Thursday to take in another Texas spring practice. On the docket this trip is face t=to face time with Steve Sarkisian, as well as more time with Will Muschamp and Mark Orphey.

  14. On Texas Football Forum · Started by UTTUCK,

From the discussion on coffee and football this morning. I think basketball is the eliminator when it comes to figuring out the best athlete. During my playing days I played with guys that were incredible football players and baseball players, but looked like totally inept on the basketball court. You find me a guy that can play two sports well, as well as basketball, and you’re looking at one of your best athletes. On the Horns to me it sounds like Jonah Williams is that guy.

  15. As is the case with the Tuesday game this season, I'll be on the livestream starting at 7 p.m., so I won't be providing my usual commentary. Regardless, Texas and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi are underway, and it's not a good start for the Longhorns. Michael Winter got the start and allowed two singles, walked a batter and gave up an RBI single. The Islanders have a 1-0 lead with the bases loaded and no outs in the top of the first.

  16. Texas has secured the commitment of transfer forward David Punch, addressing one of its most significant roster needs for the 2026-27 season. Punch went public with his commitment Sunday night, posting the news on Instagram. A national top-100 recruit out of Harker Heights in the 2024 class, Punch joins the Longhorns after two seasons at TCU. As a sophomore, the 6-foot-7-inch, 245-pound Punch was an honorable mention All-Big 12 selection, averaging 14.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.9 blocks and 1.3 steals per game. Punch gives Texas a presence at the power forward spot it lacked during its run to the Sweet 16 in Sean Miller’s first season. Along wit…
