Former Texas CB Terrance Brooks has found his new home for the 2024 season. Brooks has committed to Illinois following his departure from the Texas Football program. It was reported that both Michigan and USC were interested in Brooks, though it is the Fighting Illini who come away with the portal victory. Best of luck to Terrance Brooks in the B1G!

WACO, Texas – The No. 8/9 Texas track and field programs swept the Big 12 Outdoor Championships with the women dominating the field with 150 points and the men edging out Texas Tech 134-to-115 points. The women's win marks the fifth-straight outdoor conference title and gives head coach Edrick Floréal five titles in five attempts. The five consecutive titles matches the longest streak of outdoor championships (men or women) in Big 12 history. The men have now won three outdoor titles under Floréal in five seasons and the Longhorns have totaled 49 Big 12 conference titles in total and 15 with coach Flo. I’ve been given this some thought lately, and I wanted to put down my top 3 players to memorialize what I am thinking at the beginning of the year. This is not an evaluation of talent, but is more of who am I rooting for the most. So I will start with what I think were my top 3 last year: 1) J Whitt - I don’t think I need an explanation here, but what Longhorn wasn’t rooting for this guy after all of his injuries 2) J Brooks - I’m from a small town in South Texas, so I hopped on the JB train early. Sark has figured out that in order to win championships, you must constantly improve your roster. He recruits up to the last whistle. I admire that about how he approaches business. Did we lose more than we gained? And if so, by how much? Based just on transfer portal rankings, we are a net negative in talent rankings, correct? Even with the addition of Mukuba. I realize we aren’t judging everyone based on the spring game performance, but I think it is naive to not feel the losses of Bug, Austin Jordan, and Brooks.

It seems Kelly's comments on buying players has spawned many reactions. I liked what he said. Obviously, he was commenting on Damonic Williams. All nonsense aside, he was basically saying you can't just pay marginally talented guys tons of money in the transfer portal without screwing up your locker room. I'd take Kelly over Venables any day.
