What do we make of this sudden rash of commitments in the month of June? It’s very unSarkisian-like. In one way, it’s clear that Texas is a hot school; more recruits are wanting to jump on board earlier rather than later. Yet the string of commitments (five in three days) also strays somewhat from the formula which has brought Sark and Texas so much success of late. Sark has routinely pushed key recruitments well into the football season instead of deciding them in the summer. Perhaps the uncertainty of the House Settlement is playing a role in this. Hoops Report: Workouts begin today; one more roster addition Sean Miller and staff have the current roster of players on campus save freshman center Lewis Obiorah (more on that below). After a week of individual workouts, the team will begin weight training, conditioning and skill-related instruction today. The Longhorns already have the tallest roster in the programs history, and there could be another addition. Updates from the Recruiting Trail *** Movement for 2026 In-State EDGE I continue to hear positives regarding Temple EDGE Jamarion Carlton. With Texas bringing in a talented group of edge rushers this weekend, the picture will be much clearer for where the Horns want to go at the position for the 2026 cycle. Texas continues to pick up commitments in the 2026 class with the verbal pledge from Prosper punter Mikey Bukauskas. The Longhorns hosted Bukauskas for an official visit over the weekend and come out on top over Clemson, a team that was viewed as the favorite coming into the weekend. I think the early number being higher is indicative of a Texas program being a more sought after one by recruits than in previous years. But Texas is far from done. Portal recruiting is moving at full speed for Jim Schlossnagle and his staff, with no signs of slowing down anytime soon. The Longhorns hosted three visitors over the weekend. While I can't put out one of those names, two that did visit include a pair of prospects from Virginia. Bang!! The first official visit weekend of June is prosperous for the Texas Longhorns! The Longhorns earn a commitment from Ouchita Parish (La.) DL Dylan Berymon. Alarm bells started going off at OTF when we heard Berymon was expected to bring double digit number of family members on his official visit this weekend and sure enough, a commitment comes as a result of his trip to Austin. The 6-foot-1-inch, 310-pound interior defensive lineman is a rock on the inside of a defensive line. Another commitment in the fold! 2026 Waxahachie WR Kohen Brown has committed to the Longhorns after an official visit this weekend. Texas soared into this recruitment late, but multiple visits by the Texas staff in the spring, topped off by the official visit this weekend allow the Texas staff to overcome Notre Dame, Utah and others in this recruitment. Brown was previously committed to USC, though re-opened his commitment in April. He held 44 offers during his recruitment. Boom! Texas adds 2026 K Jake Collett to the 2026 class after his official visit this weekend. Collett just wrapped up his trip to Austin with his parents where he made his decision Sunday morning in front of the staff. Collett is ranked as the No. 2 kicker according to Kohl’s Kicking rankings. The Ringgold, Georgia native was visited by Jeff Banks during the spring and mentioned his energy as a big reason for why he ended up committing to the Longhorns. When a recruit in any sport goes to Texas, they take on an obligation, one that often goes unconsidered. When a recruit goes to Texas, they take on the idea that they must want to win a national championship. It truly doesn’t matter what sport, they all want to win it all. I think that’s one of the things that is different at Texas than other colleges and programs across the country. Texas Offers 2027 Palestine Westwood QB Kavian Bryant Texas hosted 2027 and 2028 prospects for one of their midweek camps on Thursday afternoon. The big headline to come out of the evening on the 40 Acres was an offer to a 2027 quarterback. AJ Milwee and Steve Sarkisian ended up offering Palestine Westwood QB Kavian Bryant. The Texas baseball team took it on the chin this weekend. And perhaps deservedly so. The Horns played sloppy ball in both games against UTSA and the problems came home to roost. The lack of timely hitting, free bases awarded by the pitching staff and some spotty play in the field all combined to send the Horns home earlier than expected. But overall it was a good year. The Horns won the regular season championship and most importantly Jim Schlossnagle reestablished Texas as a true contender in college baseball. With the season coming to a close, it’s time for Jim Schlossnagle and his staff to move on and look to the future. Now it’s all about building on this past season and improving for the future.
