  1. The pledge of Birmingham (Ala.) defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland gives the Horns three DT recruits in this class. Damari Simeon of New Jersey appears to be leaning the Longhorns’ way, too. Then there’s Kendal Guervil from Florida who remains on campus this morning, as well as James Johnson from Florida. All four are nationally rated. This could be the best DT class in the last 25 years for the Longhorns. Welcome to the SEC! ** Paris Melvin Jr., the defensive back out of Cypress, did not make an official visit to Texas. OTF has been told that the Longhorns have figured out their DB recruiting class and there is no room for Melvin in the…

  3. A big one! Texas earns a commitment from 2026 Birmingham Parker (Ala.) DL Vodney Cleveland! Cleveland becomes the third defensive lineman to commit to the Longhorns in the 2026 cycle, joining Corey Wells and Dylan Berymon – all three of which are out of state and from SEC territory. The Longhorns hosted Cleveland for an official visit last weekend with KJ Lacey being a part of the Alabama to Texas pitch. Big credit to Kenny Baker and the Texas staff for the win on the trial here. Texas offered Cleveland in April of 2024 and their continued pursuit pays off with the commitment of one of the top DL in the country. Cleveland stands 6-feet-4-inches ta…

  4. - Things are really heating up for Jim Schlossnagle and his staff, as Texas continues to be very active (and very selective) in the portal. - The Longhorns have hosted at least five players this week alone. - Those visits continue today, which include 2025 Buster Posey Award Finalist Carson Tinney of Notre Dame. He's one that you want Texas to land. That would be a big time get. - While I won't get into other names, I can tell you those visitors include both pitchers and catchers. - There are a handful of players that if Texas decides they want them, they are in. It would be a done deal. With that said, the big question will be IF the Horns decide to…

Texas sits at 13 commitments. It’s not an overwhelming class as yet. But there are 15+ visitors coming to town this weekend and the Horns have the no. 1 quarterback in the country committed. ** Dia Bell, the Texas quarterback pledge from South Florida, won the Elite 11 QB competition this week over a host of other elite, nationally-ranked quarterbacks. Bell is the first Longhorn to win the award. ** If you haven’t read CJ Vogel’s team update from yesterday, it’s worth your time. One of the notes that CJ Vogel slipped into his responses and not the original article is something he has heard about new receiver Emmett Mosley, the Stanford t…

  6. Recruiting in 2025 is acting like recruiting in 2025. Twists and turns result in wins and losses in the blink of an eye in the current world of recruiting. Texas has certainly experienced its own emotional rollercoaster over the last week. With one final weekend of official visitors loading up, the staff has a loaded group of prospects coming in and can continue to chip away at another top five class. A few thoughts for me that are top of mind currently. *** Where Does the Staff Go at Running Back? The decision of KJ Edwards to commit to Texas A&M was unexpected. Despite rumors and other reports, at no point in the spring months was Edwards c…

  7. Thursday AM recruiting notes Thursday morning recruiting notes with things moving by the hour, if not minutes. Dre Quinn, EDGE (Buford, Ga./High) - Clemson is telling Quinn and circle that they see him as an impact player in year one. Texas told Quinn and circle they see him developing for a year, then becoming an impact player. That has made Clemson much more attractive to the circle. He will announce his decision today. Vodney Cleveland, DL (Birmingham, Ala./Parker) - Texas remains the favorite as of Wednesday over Florida, North Carolina and Georgia with a Saturday decision closing in. 5-star Trenton Henderson, EDGE (Pensacola, Fla./Catholic) - M…

If you don’t have the stomach for it, you shouldn’t follow recruiting. Texas lost one of its top running back targets yesterday to Texas A&M in Carthage’s KJ Edwards. Edward’s was long considered a Texas lean until other factors came into play. The Aggies are pushing the limits on NIL this year in recruiting with apparent little regard to the House Settlement. Have they found a loophole or work-around? Or are they confident the rules of engagement will change yet again by the time December’s signing period rolls around (not a bad bet IMO)? Whatever the case may be, it’s clear A&M is upping the ante. How Texas responds will tell the tale. Y…

  9. Texas is set to host another massive five-star prospect this weekend for the final weekend of the June official visits. Grayson (Ga.) linebacker Tyler Atkinson will visit the Longhorns, first reported by Hayes Fawcett. The Longhorns and Atkinson had been flirting with a visit for basically the entire 2025 year, with plans yet to follow through. However, now, the Longhorns get the No. 1 linebacker in the country, per the composite rankings, on campus for a visit. *** Georgia is considered the leader coming into the visit. Clemson, Ohio State, Oregon and Texas remain in contention. View full news story

  10. Three key changes to June 20-22 OV list The final official visit weekend in June for the Longhorns is now the biggest, by far. Texas has made additions to the visit list with 5-star LB Tyler Atkinson and locking in 4-star++ DL James Johnson after that one has been going back and forth with Syracuse fighting for a visit. And then there have been cancellations with 4-star+ RB K.J. Edwards committing to Texas A&M, 4-star+ OT Grayson McKeogh headed to Notre Dame and 4-star++ DL Valdin Sone visiting Georgia. This weekend is headlined by four OTF 5-star's, and three other prospects ranked 5-stars in the industry rankings. OnTexasFootball takes a look …

  13. Started by Bobby Burton,

It’s that time of year, where recruiting takes center stage and things can and do change in an instant. Case in point, Buford defensive end Dre Quinn, as he was leaving Austin on Sunday, told reporters he would likely be foregoing his visit to Notre Dame that was scheduled for this upcoming weekend. Well, he got home, consulted with family, and yesterday afternoon decided he would go ahead and take that visit to Notre Dame. But… A report late last night from a Notre Dame reporter said Quinn had ultimately decided against visiting South Bend this weeekend and will instead announce a commitment between Texas and Clemson. If you feel like you’ve been…

After the barrage of commitments coming out of last weekend, the question is, where are the commitments from this weekend? Well, Gerry Hamilton is reporting that a couple of players gave the Longhorns their commitments privately (Hi!) but neither have made that news publicly quite yet. So where we sit as of this morning, Texas is at 13 public commitments with one more weekend of official visits to go. Texas recruiting is on track, but there are several pieces remaining. Texas still has work to do at just about every position, save quarterback. ** It feels like we just started our jersey no. countdown from 99. Yet here we are, already at no. 75. …

  15. Top-40 2026 DL Bryce Perry-Wright Returns to Texas for OV For the sixth time in his recruitment, Buford (Ga.) star Bryce Perry-Wright returned to campus for a look at the Texas Longhorns over the weekend. One of the many Georgia prospects on campus had the red carpet rolled out on his visit. "The overall visit was great," said Perry-Wright. "I really felt like I could see myself fitting in at Texas — not just as a player, but as a person. There was a strong sense of belonging being on campus this weekend. The energy was good, and I could honestly picture myself there." Again, Perry-Wright has become quite familiar with the Longhorns during his recruitm…

  17. Recapping the visits for Xavier Griffin and Brayden Rouse *** Xavier Griffin, LB, Gainesville (Ga.) High One of the top targets on the board for the Longhorns this weekend and major priority for the 2026 class, Xavier Griffin, recapped his official visit. The Longhorns are right in the thick of things here for the five-star linebacker. "I would just say being around the guys," Griffin said about the highlights of his trip. "It was a good time. I just enjoyed the visit." LaAllen Clark has been running point on this recruitment and the relationship with Griffin has been paying off thus far. 18. Started by Bobby Burton,

Texas clinched its fourth Director’s Cup as the nation’s best college athletic program in the last five years last night. The Texas women’s track team finished in 10th place, which was just enough to out point USC and Stanford. The winner of the Director’s Cup was literally decided on the second to last race of the women’s meet last night. A win is a win but it was truly by the narrowest of margins. How close? Had a Stanford runner finished in second in the 5,000 meters instead of third (something Stanford challenged), the Cardinal would have won the cup by virtue of moving up overall in the track standings. Had Texas finished 12th overall instead of 1…

The Texas men’s track and field squad limped (literally) to a 34th place finish last night. One of the hurdlers who was expected to score points for the Horns was injured. That puts a greater emphasis on today’s action at the women’s T&F championships where the Director’s Cup will also be decided. According to Director’s Cup expert Dr. Brett Wilkinson, the Texas women must finish 11th or better to secure the Director’s Cup for Texas for the fourth time in five years. Otherwise, USC likely takes home the Director’s Cup. Texas is slated to finish anywhere from 10th-14th, so it’s coming down to the wire. ** I can’t recall a time in covering recru…

  23. Saturday morning recruiting thoughts Some Saturday morning thoughts around the official visit weekend. Texas leads for a few ... OnTexasFootball believes the Longhorns entered the weekend leading for a few of the visitors. 25. As of Friday afternoon, the Longhorns have gained commitments from two players in the portal. Jack Moroknek - Outfielder - Butler Moroknek can play both left and right field, but more importantly can make an impact in the batter’s box. This past season he garnered All Big-East second team awards, after hitting .372 at the plate with a 1.145 OPS, 16 doubles and 18 home runs (led the team). Josh Livingston - INF - Wichita State Another left handed hitter, Livingston could play either corner spot or could simply be designated to DH. Last season he hit .284 for 15 home runs and 48 RBIs. Defensively, Livingston had a .990 fielding %, while only committing …
