A big one! Texas earns a commitment from 2026 Birmingham Parker (Ala.) DL Vodney Cleveland! Cleveland becomes the third defensive lineman to commit to the Longhorns in the 2026 cycle, joining Corey Wells and Dylan Berymon – all three of which are out of state and from SEC territory. The Longhorns hosted Cleveland for an official visit last weekend with KJ Lacey being a part of the Alabama to Texas pitch. Recruiting in 2025 is acting like recruiting in 2025. Twists and turns result in wins and losses in the blink of an eye in the current world of recruiting. Texas has certainly experienced its own emotional rollercoaster over the last week. If you don’t have the stomach for it, you shouldn’t follow recruiting. Texas lost one of its top running back targets yesterday to Texas A&M in Carthage’s KJ Edwards. Edward’s was long considered a Texas lean until other factors came into play. The Aggies are pushing the limits on NIL this year in recruiting with apparent little regard to the House Settlement. Have they found a loophole or work-around? Or are they confident the rules of engagement will change yet again by the time December’s signing period rolls around (not a bad bet IMO)? Texas is set to host another massive five-star prospect this weekend for the final weekend of the June official visits. Grayson (Ga.) linebacker Tyler Atkinson will visit the Longhorns, first reported by Hayes Fawcett. The Longhorns and Atkinson had been flirting with a visit for basically the entire 2025 year, with plans yet to follow through. However, now, the Longhorns get the No. 1 linebacker in the country, per the composite rankings, on campus for a visit. *** Georgia is considered the leader coming into the visit. Texas clinched its fourth Director’s Cup as the nation’s best college athletic program in the last five years last night. The Texas women’s track team finished in 10th place, which was just enough to out point USC and Stanford. The winner of the Director’s Cup was literally decided on the second to last race of the women’s meet last night. A win is a win but it was truly by the narrowest of margins. How close? Had a Stanford runner finished in second in the 5,000 meters instead of third (something Stanford challenged), the Cardinal would have won the cup by virtue of moving up overall in the track standings. The Texas men’s track and field squad limped (literally) to a 34th place finish last night. One of the hurdlers who was expected to score points for the Horns was injured. That puts a greater emphasis on today’s action at the women’s T&F championships where the Director’s Cup will also be decided. According to Director’s Cup expert Dr. Brett Wilkinson, the Texas women must finish 11th or better to secure the Director’s Cup for Texas for the fourth time in five years. Jack Moroknek - Outfielder - Butler Moroknek can play both left and right field, but more importantly can make an impact in the batter’s box. This past season he garnered All Big-East second team awards, after hitting .372 at the plate with a 1.145 OPS, 16 doubles and 18 home runs (led the team).
