Recruiting Report: Sark's helicopter stops Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was zipping around the Houston area Friday in helicopter making a number of school stops. Along with Coach Sark, assistants Blake Gideon, Jeff Banks, Terry Joseph and Chris Gilbert were hitting Houston area schools. Chris Gilbert replaced Pete Kwiatkowski on the road for the Longhorns. Arch Manning sets a Texas freshman passing record Arch Manning is now in the University of Texas freshman record book in a number of passing categories. The redshirt freshman started the UL-Monroe and Mississippi State games with Quinn Ewers on the mend after an abdominal strain. Can Colin Simmons break the Texas freshman sack record? Colin Simmons tremendous start for the Longhorns has placed him squarely on freshman record watch five games into the season. After recording seven tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks in the 35-13 win over Mississippi State, Simmons is quickly rising up the freshman records in two categories - sacks and tackles for loss. I'm also told that Ewers could have gone against the Bulldogs had the QB situation been dire. Let's get to it. It was a heck of a second start for Arch Manning and the Longhorns end up with a 22-point victory. First Half Offense Texas had the shot gun and it was aimed right at its feet for the first half. It was rather remarkable how each drive stalled in a unique, yet frustrating fashion. Despite the 35-13 win over Mississippi State yesterday and the fantastic performance from back-up QB Arch Manning, the victory felt almost hollow. Why? There were simply too many mental miscues coming from a team befitting of a no. 1 national ranking, which is what Texas was entering the contest. For the first time this year, Texas had a very incomplete performance.
