Getting some conflicting information on whether or not wide receiver Ryan Williams from Saraland, Ala., will still make his scheduled visit to Texas this weekend. There is some thought that the five-star receiver is shutting down his recruitment. Whether that comes before or after his visit to Texas this weekend, I am unsure. It will be something we are monitoring over the next 24-48 hours. View full news

In the final Big 12 season David Pierce's squad will partake in, there is some heavy preseason recognition headed their direction. LHP Lebarron Johnson Jr. was named the preseason Big 12 Pitcher of the Year. OF Will Gasparino took home the preseason Freshman Player of the Year award as well. Gasparino was a top 75 MLB Draft prospect by several scouting services prior to his enrollment to The University of Texas. There were six unanimous selections for the preseason first team All-Big 12 lineup, OF Porter Brown was one of them. Brown hit .323 with 12 HR and 59 RBI in 2023.

Question for Bobby, A few months ago you made a comment on your podcast that the final dollar amount for UT exiting Big 12 early would be close to zero. Could you elaborate on that further on how that happen? And also, do we know what the exit fee would be for OU?

I was pretty shocked to see Anthony Hill dominating and no Williams or Muhammad on the list.. I had to go Jahdae.. I am not sure Ant is even the best LB returning based on the 2023 season. The potential is definitely there, just a matter of when the light goes on. If we are voting on potential, you have to include Derek Williams/Muhammad. Both of them graded out significantly higher, than Hill. Collins should be on the list. He finished the 3rd highest rated defender on the season for Texas by PFF (behind Sweat and Murphy). PFF ratings: Collins 80.0 Muhammad 78.5 Sorrell: 71.9 Barron: 71.5 Burke: 70.9 Gbenda: 68.8 W…

Texas is still hot in pursuit of former Washington CB Jabbar Muhammad, however as Bobby mentioned earlier this afternoon, the Oregon Ducks are positioned to take the pole position with Muhammad now in Eugene. Now, if Muhammad does decide to join the Ducks, there is another name from another program to keep an eye on. Jim Harbaugh is reportedly headed to Los Angeles today for a 2nd in-person interview with the Chargers. A deal is within "strikiing distance" per Zach Barnett of FootballScoop. Should Harbaugh depart, a name passed on to me to keep an eye on in regards to a possible portal entry is CB Will Johnson. Johnson was the Defensive MVP of the Nat…

hey Bobby CJ and Blake was listening to the show this morning and while talking about the receivers I got to thinking and maybe this can be a topic of discussion on the show- with the amount of skill talent at receiver this coming year we know sark loves to run the ball and has had the 1000 rusher every year, but with this receiver room as loaded as it is, do you see sark maybe putting more of a point of emphasis on the passing game this year more so than maybe in years past ? Maybe instead of 60%/40% could we see 70/30?

I think after a year in the program and the talent that D Moore will be get in the rotation with Cook, Bond, Golden. I think Golden and Bolden primarily pick up for special teams and to fill a need a WR if what we have in the program developing isn’t working. I see Wingo also getting snaps but second half of the year mostly.

This morning we had Pleasant Grove head coach Josh Gibson on Coffee and Football. Coach Gibson sees Lance Jackson nearly everyday and raved about the type of person he is both on and off the field. However, this stuck out to Bobby, CJ and I as much as anything.

Bridgeland (Cypress) 2025 offensive tackle Jonte Newman just dropped his top 8 schools on Twitter. The 6-foot-4, 275-pounder is ranked a four-star in the On3 Industry Rankings and the No. 343 player overall. This past season he was a unanimous District 16-6A first-team selection. View full news

If Jim H leaves Michigan, but doesn't announce it till Friday or next week, what happens to the players who enter the portal but can't sign till after January 30th? Does TX just lose out on those guys? It takes 48 hrs to have your name show up in the portal, and only leaves like 2 or 3 days to get with a player have them come visit and then sign? Are there any special rules that Texas can take these kids get them enrolled in school after January 30th?

CJ or Bobby. Any reason Texas didn’t invite Andrew Marsh or Kallil Lockett to junior days. Both 5 stars and now apparently aggy lead.

Seems like Sark is taking special care with this hire to not settle for just a guy. I think he’s looking for a dude. Recruiting chops has to be paramount. SEC recruiting is a completely different game.

Every now and then I have to look things up and remind myself what some of these more technical people are talking about. Perhaps some of you here may find this useful. Copied from: https://www.si.com/nfl/colts/film/gus-glossary-breaking-down-roles-interior-defensive-line 0-Technique: Defender is face up with the center. 1-Technique: Defender lines up on the center's outside shoulder. 2i-Technique: Defender lines up on the guard's inside shoulder. 2-Technique: Defender is face up with the guard. 3-Technique: Defender lines up on the guard's outside shoulder, between the guard and the tackle. 4i-Technique: …

KPRC2 Houston reporting that Texans DL coach Jacques Cesaire is not returning to the team. I can't help but think this will affect Rod Wright's future plans one way or the other. Link to story below. https://www.click2houston.com/sports/2024/01/23/texans-defensive-line-coach-jacques-cesaire-not-returning-got-nothing-but-love-for-those-guys/

Arizona DB Tacario Davis has officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. I mentioned the idea of Will Johnson earlier today, however I am of the belief Davis would be a much more realistic target here. Texas is not in desperation mode right now for a portal DB, in fact, I view the pursuit of Jabbar Muhammad as a luxury the Longhorns are hoping to land more so than an all out approach as we have seen at other positions. But to the point, the 6-foot-4 Davis led the PAC-12 in pass breakups this season with 15. There is optimal length and tremendous height here combined with superb production from a year ago. Oklahoma has notable interest right now and I would…

Any chance we go after him after he de-committed? I know we don't have a D Line coach yet but feel like Sark and staff should make a move anyway.

While Texas looks for its new defensive line coach, Steve Sarkisian has elevated Texas' Director of Recruiting, Brandon Harris to the 10-man coaching staff to allow him to get on the road to recruit. Harris was out in Louisiana Tuesday afternoon, checking in on a pair of powerhouses in the area. First stop was at Westgate High School, home to 2025 CB Jaboree Antoine and former home of Texas S Derek Williams. Soon thereafter, Harris made the trip to University Lab, home to 2025 LB Keylan Moses (LSU commit) and the No. 2 overall player in the 2026 class, OT Lamar Brown. View full news

We believe John Timu is joining the Texas coaching staff in some capacity, most likely as a defensive assistant but not in an on-field capacity. Timu spent last season as the assistant defensive line coach for the San Diego Chargers. He played at the University of Washington and three seasons in the NFL at linebacker for the Chicago Bears. Timu was recruited to Washington by current Texas linebackers coach Johnny Nansen while on Steve Sarkisian's staff in Seattle. View full news

Is Sark playing the long game with the DL coach? Feels like he is waiting till the spring for picking up another D tackle, so there is no rush to get his coach.
