The addition of Tiaoalii Savea out of the NCAA Transfer Portal marks the eighth portal prospect to declare their intentions to play for the Texas Longhorns for the 2024 season. Three wide receivers combine for 220+ career receptions. Add in Amari Niblack and the Longhorns may not skip a beat after sending four pass catchers to the NFL from a year ago. Andrew Mukuba brings over 30 career starts and Freshman All American accolades. Off the edge, Trey Moore's 22.0 sacks over the last two seasons puts him in an elite category among pass rushers around the country. Now Texas is adding depth at positions of need with the addition of Kendrick Blackshire…

Sources tell On Texas Football that Jabbar Muhammad is likely favoring Oregon at this moment. Muhammad, a Washington transfer and second-team All-Pac 12 selection in 2023, visited Texas last week. He then visited Alabama over the weekend. But Oregon is expected to host him this week and the Ducks have gone from a major player in this recruitment to his potential leader. Muhammad is expected to make a decision by no later than Jan. 30. The Longhorns have already inked eight players in the NCAA transfer portal, the latest coming earlier today from Tiaoalii Savea, a 6-foot-4, 305-pound defensive tackle from Arizona. View full news

Another portal victory for the Texas Longhorns! Texas earns its eighth overall commitment in the month of January, this time from former Arizona defensive lineman Tiaoalii Savea! Savea visited over the weekend for an official visit and despite leaving campus without shutting things down, it does not take long before seeing a decision come. The Longhorns have been looking to replace the departures of T'Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy to the NFL Draft and Trill Carter who is now at Auburn. Savea recorded six tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks last year at Arizona. The Longhorns are adding another capable piece to their defensive line for the 2024 season to go …

Texas is continuing its recruiting work at Mater Dei. Texas has offered 2027 Mater Dei defensive bank Danny Lang. The offer is the first Lang has received. Texas has been no stranger with the California powerhouse – having landed five-star Brandon Baker in 2024, TE Spencer Shannon in 2023 and just hosted a trio of prospects from Mater Dei over the weekend.

From a source in Tucson, I am told that Texas is the "clear favorite" to land Tiaoalii Savea , the 6-foot-4, 305-pound defensive tackle transfer from Arizona. Savea visited Texas over the weekend and has a very strong bond with Texas linebackers coach Johnny Nansen, who joined the Longhorn staff from Arizona this off-season. Savea is expected to be a mid-term enrollee. All mid-term enrollees at Texas must enroll by Jan. 30 at the very latest. Texas has already added seven players from the NCAA's transfer portal. Besides Savea, Texas also continues to recruit Washington cornerback Jabbar Muhammad. Muhammad visited Texas with his parents on Wednesday and Thursday …

Lifetime Longhorn Rod Babers and I get together for the latest episode of Talkin' Ball. Texas hired a new defensive analyst with the addition of William Gay. Plus the portal pursuit carries on with the recruitment of Jabbar Muhammad. Rod and I also get to talking about how an increase of swagger can help the Texas secondary with on-field play. Special thank you to our sponsor John Donovan at Longhorn Wealth Management Group for supporting this week's Talkin' Ball! View full news

One of the fastest rising prospects in the Houston area has reported a Texas offer. Alief Hastings outside linebacker prospect Smith Orogbo was offered by Jeff Banks this afternoon. Banks has been busy in the Houston area this afternoon and the Longhorns are now officially in the running for the 6-foot-4 pass rushing prospect. Orogbo has received offers from Texas, Oklahoma, Cal, Oklahoma State and Kansas in the last week alone.

I posted this as a comment on another thread. (Sorry new to the site) but I have a question. I know Texas is coming close to scholarship numbers. Is there anything stopping an NIL collective or company from paying for a players school? For example Burt Auburn is not on scholarship…. What is stopping (name the company) from paying Bert the same amount of a semester to make appearances? Do you have to be on scholarship to receive NIL deals?

While the focus of the Junior Day on Saturday was to get the ball truly moving in the 2025 class, the Longhorn staff hosted an impressive crop of 2026 prospects as well. The weekend allowed for the Longhorns to get their 2026 class started with the commitment of Aledo RB Raycine Guillory Jr., though some of the top in-state prospects in the state for the class were able to meet with the Texas staff and see campus. A few updates on some important sophomores that were on campus: *** A pair of Temple (TX) prospects made the trip down i35 for the Junior Day – DL Jamarion Carlton and DB Jason Bradford. Bradford is a 6'2" defensive back with tremendous flui…

Texas has extended an offer to 2026 Mayde Creek LB Kosi Okpala. Interestingly enough, the offer comes from Texas special teams coordinator and TE coach Jeff Banks. There are some pro-Texas ties here as well that could end up playing a favor later on in the recruiting cycle. Okpala was at Texas Tech last weekend for an unofficial. The Red Raiders were the first school to offer him, Texas now becomes the second.

Not really a news piece so I'm placing this on the board... Rod Wright has his end of year meeting with Texans head coach Demeco Ryans today. We'll see what the timeline looks like following that meeting. Again, not sure if Wright is the guy but it's customary for pro coaches to have these end of season meetings with assistants.

This will probably be the last of the junior day information you see from me, but wanted to share what I rounded up late last night/early today. - This morning marks the start of winter workouts for the Longhorns. After about three weeks off, they're back in the saddle in preparation for the 2024 season. - CJ Vogel spoke this weekend of how impressionable new Texas linebackers coach Johnny Nansen was this weekend and that he hit it of well with many recruits. I also heard rave reviews on both wide recievers coach Chris Jackson and running backs coach Tashard Choice. The two of them, along with Nansen, were mentioned as coaches who stood out the most and made p…
