A pair of Longhorns have been named as Finalists for two college football postseason awards, annually presented to the nation's best at each position. DB Jahdae Barron was named as a Thorpe Award Finalist Tuesday afternoon. Barron has four interceptions and has not allowed a touchdown on the season. And LT Kelvin Banks has been named a finalist for the 2024 Outland Award trophy, presented annually to the nation's top interior lineman. Texas DL T'Vondre Sweat won the award in 2023. The other finalists for the Outland include Michigan DL Mason Graham and Ole Miss DL Walter Nolen.

Ater a few notes of "the Eyes of Texas", I think a few Texas trumpet players should play El Degüello (Give Them No Quarter) . Perhaps as the Texas team comes back on the field after halftime.. Let the Texas players know how they should finish the game. Let the coaches explain the bugle call. Maybe highlack some of their speakers and play it thru them 😁

He’s electric with the ball in his hands, but the last two weeks he fields a punt at Ark on yhe 4 yard line that would have bounced into the end and returns it to the 14. Yesterday he fair catches a punt at the 4 yard line and then fumbles/drops the next one. I love the gun slinger mentality, but there is a time and place for that. We Texas is up 3 scores, maybe put someone more conservative back there; when Texas is trailing and needs a play, let him eat. I fear his play will end up hurting us soon (yesterday his fair catch resulted in a 3 and out b/c Texas was backed up and gave Kentucky great field position that it converted into a TD (I think)).

Texas LB Anthony Hill Jr. has been named the Co-Defensive Player of the Week by the SEC for his efforts Saturday vs. Kentucky. Hill recorded 10 tackles with three tackles for loss and two sacks. *** However, Hill was not named a Finalist for the Butkus Award, given to the nation's top linebacker in the country. It was a straight up snub.

With our return to College Station on the horizon, I wanted to bring this up to our OTF family. Many of you were born into Texas fandom. Others went to the University of Texas and fell in love with the Longhorn logo. For me, that fandom started in my grandparents home in Western Pennsylvania in the late 1990s. Unlike many of the OTF family, I did not have the pleasure of being from Texas or attending the University. Rather, my upbringing is in a modest home in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
