Crazy Stat: Miami Hurricanes will not play a game outside the state of Florida until November of 2025
Texas schedule is odd this year too. On the road in August, all home games in September, and no home games in October.

Hoops: Texas vs. No. 22 Missouri Game Thread
Good win. Would really like them to finish at one game over 500 in conference, but they’ll have to improve significantly to get to that level.

What was your favorite moment from this season?
Blue’s long run against Clemson. They were fighting to get back into the game and in one play he ended it.

If you look at the National numbers Georgia is probably the only bigger TV draw than Texas.

PFF Grades for the 2024 Texas Season (Monday)
Wingo’s change in rating is easy to understand. He lit it up versus CSU and UTSA and then disappeared when the level of competition increased. The last 12 games of the year he averaged less than 2 catches and 30 yards per game. Lots of talent but need to see production too.

Blue to draft
He was an important contributor this year, particularly considering the injuries that hit the RB room. I thought he was going to light the world on fire, but didn’t hit that Jonathan Brooks 2.0 level that I thought was a possibility. Scored 3 TDs combined in two national semis. The 77 yarder vs Clemson was a game changer too. Hook ‘em and best of luck J Blue!

Tale of Two Halves for Isaiah Bond
Bond’s on-field execution the 2nd half of the season was horrific. Drops, caused INTs, missed blocks, penalties, bad routes, etc. Texas was playing with somewhere between 9 and 10 players on offense when he was on the field. 10 when he’s a decoy and 9 when he’s contributing negative plays. I don’t know for certain, but it sure seems like he mentally checked out at some point. Disappointing for him and the team. Also has to cause serious pause for the NFL.

Tailgate Dissapointment
Was really impressed by how reasonable concessions were in Atlanta. I’m guessing that won’t be true tonight.

Hartzell leaving for… SMU
Y, I don’t think that was an accident. LOL!

Hartzell leaving for… SMU
Being President of UT-Austin is a 5 year job. The political grind is real, across all the stakeholders (legislature, alumni, students, faculty, tax payers, etc). I’ve known Jay since before he became President and knew he would be a perfect fit. It’s too bad he’s leaving, but I’ve always understood that even he, as a proud alum, could only deal with the pressure of the job for so long. Wish him well and hope the next hire is as good or at least close. Also, understanding that athletics is the front porch of the university should be part of the search criteria. Hook ‘em

If You Win the Toss...
Since the UGa game in mid October the defense has probably averaged giving up 4 points in the first half of games. Only Vandy and ASU have made double digits (10 each). You trust that defense no matter whom they line up against.

PWO QB Transfer
I know Sark was looking for another QB to help with reps, scout team, etc but I have to admit I don’t know what he sees here (admittedly never having seen the kid play, just looking at his stats).

Texas Would Be Favored Against Both Notre Dame & Penn State
Not a fan of reseeding. Create the bracket right at the start and let the chips fall as they may. This year’s bracket was critically flawed from the get go. In the end though, we would have most likely had to beat OSU and one of UGa, PSU, or ND to win the National Championship. To be the best you have to beat the best! Bring it on! Hook ‘em

NIL Excesses for 2nd Tier Programs
We’ll see this coming week if the trend continues next week, but to this point the pretenders have been embarrassed on the playoff stage. I think there’s been an assumption that if the Tech’s, SMU’s, etc of the world that if they just make it to the playoffs that all of a sudden they’ll become legitimate contenders because they can build off of that playoff appearance. What the playoff has shown to date is that the 2nd tier teams aren’t even close to contending. The importance of that is that it provides a stark contrast to the two power conference heavyweights that build through HS recruiting and supplement with the portal. Will the Double Eagle’s (Tech boosters), etc continue to spend big on a handful of portal recruits if they know it won’t really make them competitive? Plugging 5 holes in a roster with 60 holes is really just throwing money away. Being Big XII champion or runner up doesn’t have that much impact if your conference continually gets embarrassed on the big stage. Getting that dumb money (overpaying to get talent to a team that wouldn’t get a look otherwise) is an important step in rationalizing the NIL / portal market in my opinion. I guess we’ll see.

Muhammad got exposed yesterday
I think he forgot rule number one of being a CB, forget what happened on the last play. He had that really bad read on the ball to the TE where he bit down and let the guy run right by and it just seemed like the wheels came off after that.

Portal Note (Friday 7:22am CST)
Sounds like Singleton and Branch are both going to slide by. I’ll be interested to see where Sark goes from here.
