CFB Salary Cap Question
Prior to the House settlement NIL was the “Wild West” with effectively uncapped NIL payments. My understanding is that pre-House agreements didn’t apply to the House salary cap. Was that waiver just for the 2025 season or does it apply through the term of the NIL agreement, however long that is?

Scratch the 85 scholarships limit
Should be at 105 like everyone else. That will provide plenty of room for developmental OL and DTs and still leave NIL for portal immediate fixes.

College coaching carousel 2025: It's going to be wild
How does an “off the charts” deal even get done at LSU after the shenanigans with the governor re Kelly’s contract? “Sure, we signed a dumb contract for an even dumber contract, but this time it will work out!”

Steve Sarkisian on his future at Texas: 'I’m not going anywhere'
What Sark or CDC says today doesn’t mean sh*t. We won’t know the truth until about 3 weeks after the Super Bowl. I tend to think he’s coming back but if he is he needs to spend some serious time looking in the mirror and commit to fixing the sh*t that’s broken. Part of the issue is not keeping the roster “old.” Sark needs to recognize that the portal fixes problems and HS recruits generally sit on the bench burning NIL year one. Tech brought in 21 players from the portal, A&M 13, and Texas 5. We lost a number of 3rd and 4th year players to the draft and replaced them with HS recruits while the competition is bringing in experienced college starters. Texas completely failed to maximize the pre-House settlement Wild West and has been passed by the teams that did. We could have brought in starting caliber OL, WR, and RB and intentionally decided on only Mosley. You either play to win or get smoked by those that do. Sark needs to decide if he wants to win or play “his” recruits when they aren’t really ready for prime time yet.

This Team is a copy and paste of 2022
Last night reminded me a lot of the Tech game in 2022, but with a much better opponent. Kirby rolled the dice ala Joey and ate Sark’s lunch while we struggled to execute the basics.

83 rushing yards in 3 games vs UGA.
Sark’s inner being is set around pass to set up the run (if the pass is successful). He just doesn’t believe in run first and will only go with a run only oriented game plan if we are down to the water boy at QB.

CFP preference: Bye into the quarterfinals or a first-round home game?
100% agree, just get in. Once you’ve done that the mission is to win them all irrespective of where you play.

Brian Kelly Suing LSU
I’m sure Tom Herman and Charlie Strong are available for $7m/yr not guaranteed. LSU isn’t getting Kiffin or anyone close if they are going to play this game. Make sure you have plenty of popcorn, this is probably a double feature.

Yards Per Play Stats ... Entering Week 10
135 out 136 tells you all that you need to know. If you aren’t throwing to your TEs and they aren’t great blockers and you specialize in slow developing down field shots where the defense knows they will have a great chance to get home by blitzing it’s not surprising that the results are subpar.

What might the Texas offense look like if Matthew Caldwell is QB1 against Vanderbilt?
The strengths definitely align more closely with Quinn. Will be interesting to see what deep balls Sark calls if it’s Caldwell. Arch being a 50% passer on intermediate throws is just a shocking statistic. Throw in 3 ints and only 2 TDs just to pile on. I know that is biased by some of his early season “yips”, but he’s got to be MUCH better than that if he wants to be successful going forward. This is reason #1b along with the OL/running game issues as to why we haven’t been able to move the ball consistently.

Sark eyeing NFL per report
So the guy who’s reason for being Coach at Texas is because he’s an offensive play caller who currently has a dumpster fire offense despite a generational QB is now thinking the NFL is a good idea?

Curt Cignetti - $11mil/yr
And this is why the House settlement is never going to survive. $20m spread over 105 players while the HC alone gets $11m. It boggles the mind how the NCAA and the schools think that this is remotely fair to the players.

The Truth is
Just a bad football team. Burton was right that experience would be a problem early but he underestimated the starting point that they would be building from. If only we could play SHSU a few more times.

Big 10
Bad idea. Selling your best asset to someone that could care less about you or your product. If they need the money that bad they’ve already screwed up.

On the Health of the RBs (Wednesday 1:30 p.m.)
Wisner needs to make it through the game without getting dinged up. The RB and WR room rotating triage situation needs to stop.

What is the contingency plan?
I’m not sure what you do. Caldwell at least has started 5 college games and has over 400 passing attempts. Presumably he has some talent or he wouldn’t be QB2 now. I have no idea what Lacey (or Owens) really bring to the table. My tendency is to go with the more experienced guy but would ultimately have to defer to the coaches, which is somewhat scary considering the current situation.

RB CJ Baxter OUT vs. Sam Houston State
I don’t doubt that this team can beat SHSt without Wisner and Baxter, but this team has zero offensive continuity. They may end up being physically ready for UF and OU but they aren’t likely to be ready to execute on the offensive side of the ball. Sark is playing with fire.
-
Don't tell me the problem, what is your solution if you are Sark.
I kind of like the idea of having him trade off series with Caldwell or whoever Sark thinks is the #2 long term. Gives Arch a chance to settle down and Sark a chance to see what the offense can really be with Plan B. I haven’t given up on Arch, but the proof is in the pudding.

24 - 14. If Wingo doesn’t have a breakout game today you have to start wondering if he ever will. There are going to be a lot of 1B and 2nd teamers starting at the skill positions. We will know a lot more about the readiness of that depth after today. The OL needs to keep Arch clean also. Can’t have him joining the list of walking wounded. I fully expect the D to do their thing. However, with all the inexperience on the offensive side of the ball, I expect the D to be put in some bad positions which will make their performance look worse than it actually was.

USA Today: Arch Manning is just ... average? That's how he looks for Texas
Good Lord. When the writer admits it’s a stupid take in the first two paragraphs of the article you know it’s trash. I stopped there. Yes, Arch is average right now. Why it’s worthy of this drivel I have no idea.
