  1. With Adrian Rodriguez out of action while recovering from what Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball.com described Monday as “a minor hand procedure,” No. 2 Texas has a hole at shortstop and in the middle of the batting order. Jim Schlossnagle continued to go with Rodriguez (.271/.386/.383) in the clean-up spot despite the sophomore battling through a hand issue. Injured during the 2025 season, Rodriguez underwent surgery in the fall and while he was ready for the start of the 2026 season, the issue lingered and particularly bothered him in situations when he’d swing and miss in the box, which led to him often grimacing in pain and, at times, requiring attention from the team…

  2. Before the Texas Longhorns return to the practice field for the third week of spring ball on Tuesday, I want to look at five players who appear poised to further establish their roles on the 2026 squad. — The injuries and on-the-mend status of multiple safeties have opened the door for Derek Williams Jr. to lock down the starting spot next to Jelani McDonald. Factor in the combination of Williams being almost 16 months removed from the knee injury that ended his 2024 season, with the return of Blake Gideon to the Forty Acres, and the redshirt junior has a chance to get back on the upward trajectory his career was on before the injury. Williams, who started over …

  4. Hey guys, first off i asked Mr. Burton if it was ok to post this. There is a gofundme for the teacher shot yesterday in Bulverde Tx at the School. I live 200 yards from this school and thankfully my kids are to little to be there. I do not know the teacher and my kids will probably end up at Smithson Valley down the road, but i wanted to post this for the teacher there that is battling. Again I don't even know here name but i am just posting for her and her family that i don't know. https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-our-brave-teachers-recovery?attribution_id=sl:ba4e8dae-d3d4-48cc-9f3a-25e8560c70a3&lang=en_US&ts=1774920061&utm_campaign=…

  9. ... To the Texas recruiting staff. I spoke with a parent of a national recruit this weekend who accompanied their son on a visit to see the Longhorns this past week. The parent told me they have been to around 20 different college campuses during their son's recruitment so far – ranging from game day atmospheres, to spring practices to summer camps and more. Yet, it was the trip to Austin to see the Longhorns which stood out the most. This parent told me that the trip to Texas was far and away the most prepared he had seen a school for their son to arrive. The Longhorns rolled out the red carpet on the trip and took care of every minor detail possible…

  13. @Bobby Burton I’m a little surprised you called out Will Wade and the manner in which he departed NC State, but didn’t talk about Schloss’ departure from A&M. Let’s be honest, are they really that different? Wade took the cowardly way out in sending an email via his agent, while Schloss flat out misled people in that press conference. One can even call it lying. Both departures were pretty badly mishandled and I think both Schloss and Will Wade deserve to be ridiculed. What say you?

  14. Texas is on the practice field for session #6 of the spring. QB Arch Manning is back throwing and WR Ryan Wingo continues to increase his participation on the field as well. Sarkisian has said Manning was beginning to ramp up his throwing participation this week, and the post from Texas backs that up.

  15. A mock draft from USA Today, which was published before Thursday's Sweet 16 loss to Purdue, had Swain mocked 24th overall to the Denver Nuggets. Here's the analysis: "After transferring from Xavier to Texas during the offseason and then leading his team to the Sweet 16, Dailyn Swain has become one of the more intriguing breakout players in college basketball. The All-SEC forward is versatile and contributes a little bit of everything for the Longhorns on both sides of the ball, scoring well both in the paint and on fastbreaks. Another element that is notably compelling is that Swain is efficient one-on-one in isolation against his defenders."

  18. AUSTIN, Texas — When a strong, steady gust of wind kept Carson Tinney’s 111 mph shotgun blast off the bat with the bases loaded in the seventh inning of Friday’s 10-inning, 4-3 win over No. 8 Oklahoma from leaving UFCU Disch-Falk Field, Jim Schlossnagle accepted No. 2 Texas’ possible fate. “I was like, 'Dang it, man!'” Schlossnagle said after the Longhorns’ comeback triumph over the Sooners, while recalling his thoughts while watching a likely grand slam get knocked down short of the Yeti Yard’s mesh wall in left field. “This is an awesome ball game, but it might not be our night.” Texas (22-4, 6-2 SEC) only had one hit when the dust settled on the seventh innin…
