  2. Hardline shoe around 5:15. I assume it will be Texas-centric given he called the game. Also, Bob Sturm wrote a great Substack the day after. Here’s a portion: (delete if not allowed) “…The way Texas walked in there, called their shot, challenged the champion in their own stadium, put their feet on the furniture…It was all so impressive. I think this is easily my biggest takeaway of the entire adventure. They knew all week that they were the better football team, but that sort of false bravado is dangerous in these situations….providing it was false. This was as true as it gets as the Longhorns have clearly leveled up to where they are capable and comfortable…

  3. OTF is in Sugar Land at Mercer Stadium for the Richmond Randle vs Fort Bend Travis game. Texas A&M 4-star DL commit Chace Sims tells OnTexasFootball he is scheduled to make an official visit to Texas for the Mississippi State game.

  4. I was tied up yesterday and couldn't report on this until watching a rerun today, but Texas swept Houston 25-19, 25-18, 25-20. Swindle set the whole match. Her first 7 sets resulted in 7 Texas kills. Ames, Skinner, Rutherford, Rutherford again, Singletary, Wenaas from the back row, Skinner. Houston isn't that good this year, but that was awesome to watch. Texas faltered a bit about 1/3 of the way into the first set, giving up 4 straight points, the last two on a hitting error by Ames (off antenna on the slide) and getting out of alignment on return of serve (Ames moved too quickly and crossed Wenaas before Houston player made contact with the serve. Swindle the…

We're all pulling for the Horns here, but not the same NFL squad. We needed a place to get after each other's squad and have some good clean trash talking. So here we are.

  6. Note on 2026 4-star safety Zelus Hicks 2026 4-star safety Zelus Hicks (Carrollton, Ga./High) is set to announce his college commitment September 12. Hicks, 6-2'ish and 180, is down to Tennessee, Texas, Auburn, Georgia and Clemson. There is more chatter about Auburn, Texas and Tennessee as of this evening. Also as of Tuesday evening, the Longhorns feel like they are very much in the race for the Peach State star. Hicks made a visit to Texas this summer with his 7v7 team. Hicks has 32 offers to date, including ten from the SEC.

  7. Pertaining to the spread Against these lesser teams, here’s the thought I had when playing CSU. What’s difficult to gauge when betting these big lines is when will the starters come out and how will the backups perform against the other teams starters. Our starters are going to play at least a half. But what happens then? Arch, cook, niblack, Wingo, , etc come in. There are too many mouths to feed is the point here. Until the walk ons come in late 4th, this thing has no choice but to continue piling on. I’m shocked the line is only 35 when TX ST beat these guys by 40+. Only thing you can’t account for is a major let down.

  8. Texas HC Steve Sarkisian will speak with the media one last time ahead of Texas' meeting with UTSA at home on Saturday evening. The Longhorns come in as 35-point favorites for this matchup and are currently ranked No. 2 in the country.

  9. A large deal is coming to the Texas One Fund and the Name, Image, Likeness aspect of Texas Athletics. Texas is one of three schools with a deal with Panini, as Ohio State and Nebraska are also inked with the leading sports card manufacturer. Former Longhorn and current VP of Panini Chris Ogbonnaya in the release: “As a former student-athlete at the University of Texas, I’m thrilled to bring together two storied sports entities to empower student-athletes — past, present, and future — at Texas and beyond,” said Chris Ogbonnaya, Vice President, NIL Relations for Panini America and former Longhorn and NFL running back. “The NIL space is ever-changing and evolv…

  10. A look throughout the SEC conference at the contenders and the pretenders. Who has shined through two weeks and who has disappointed. I am buying or selling the hype on each team. #4 Alabama (2-0) – Buy Kalen DeBoer and Jalen Milroe are off to a hot start to the season. There remains plenty of talent on the roster for Alabama. The Tide had a close one entering the 4th quarter against USF and will go on the road to Wisconsin ahead of the Georgia game on week four, still I like the Tide’s chances to make the Playoff. Arkansas (1-1) – Buy Barry Odom and Taylen Green appear to be a match made in Hog Heaven. Arkansas showed signs of being the same old …

After week 1 against CoSt saw Quinn spread it around to 11 different targets, Week 2 against Michigan was reduced to 5 including the TE and RBs. It looks like Bond and Golden are emerging as Ewers' prime targets and he seemingly has the best rapport with these two guys at the WR position so far. IMHO, they are closely followed by Cook, Wingo and Moore. With so many weapons, the WR room is seemingly the deepest it's been since I've been watching Texas football. I expect Wingo to get increased targets as the season wears on, but it does seem QE has his preferred targets in Bond & Golden. Receptions leaders so far: Helm - 9 Blue - 9 Golden - 9 …

  13. Texas has extended an offer to 2026 DL Tufanua Ionatna Umu-Cais late Wednesday night. Umu-Cais stands 6-feet-3-inches and is listed around 300 pounds on the recruiting services database. He currently attends Cherry Creek, the same high school Gunnar Helm came out of in the 2021 class. Texas becomes the 20th school to offer the 2026 defensive lineman.

  14. Couple of Texas visit notes OTF expects 4-star++ athlete Michael Terry (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) to attend the UTSA game Saturday per a source close to the recruitment. Frisco (Texas) Panther Creek 2026 4-star+ WR/CB Jalen Lott tells OTF today that he plans to at the Texas vs ULM game September 21. Mayde Creek High 2026 4-star+ LB Kosi Okpala tells OTF he is planning to attend the Texas vs. Georgia game.

  15. Excited to watch them against ASU on TH night. Hoping they pull it out cause they wil have a great chance for the playoff since they will be heavily favored on most of their remaining games. It would be great to see them becomes the 3rd school from the State of Texas to make playoff (Poor Aggies)... I can't remember, did Kinne transfer because he was behind Colt?

  16. hey all going to my first home game in a decade(been to away games and dallas for the red river), bringing my buddy and his daughter to their first game and she is 8. where should i bring them pregame where she will have a blast. fyi my buddy doesn’t drink so want to make sure his daughter is around fun stuff for kiddos. thanks in advance

  17. Texas is now 2-0, with both a dominating home win over a G5 and a good ol’ fashioned butt whipping of a win against a (then ranked) No. 10 Michigan team on the road. In those two games the Longhorns have: - Outscored their opponents 83-12. - Averaged 301 passing yards per game - Averaged 197 rushing yards per game. - Allowed 139 yards through the air, on average, per game. - Held opponents to 99 rushing yards, on average, per game. So, now that we are two games in, have your expectations for this team changed? Why or why not? And, if so, how have they changed?

  18. @Bobby Burton is there an online link to the tailgate? Just show up and pay?

  19. OU offense was just horrible against Houston. They're young QB is not good at all, at least in the first two games. You know the fan base is wishing Dillon was still on the team. Last year they were crying for Arnold to get in the game and play, be careful what you wish for. I bet the points on this game just jumped.

Talk of rat poison and Mack's talk about rats eating poison cheese brings back memories. I'm pretty sure Mack originally got the "cheese" talk from Bill Parcells when he coached the Cowboys. Parcells would say "don't take the cheese," by which he meant don't allow the praise to make you soft. I remember Mack saying he talked to Parcells on the phone during the 2005 season, and Parcells told him to make sure the Longhorns "didn't take the cheese." Mack changed it up a little over the next few years.

  21. With all the talk of Texas having never scheduled a game against an FCS school, I got curious about where Texas would rank in the All-time Wins totals if teams weren't able to juice their stats with free wins against teams that are clearly sacrificial lambs... Best I could find in a short search was this article from 2020-2021... https://lwosports.com/college-football-all-time-wins-leaders/ This would show that Texas was #1 as of 2020, with OU just 4 games behind. OU has not passed us in the interim, but I think they made up 2 games (they played an FCS school in 2021). This article does however show Texas with 110 fewer wins when FCS teams are removed (813)…

  22. In my opinion, the UGA game has the potential to send recruiting into the stratosphere. - Potential 1 v 2 matchup in Austin - Potential for a night game and likely the best atmosphere in the history of DKR - Lots of recruits visiting for this game Does it get any better than that for recruiting? Let's hope both teams continue to take care of business so we get that matchup in those circumstances.
