There’s no other way to put it, except Texas choked last night. After being up 6-1, the Horns had a colossal meltdown and lost 9-7. The offense went cold, the defense committed mistake after mistake. Now, what should have been a win one and advance scenario, has turned into the No. 2 seeded Longhorns having to fight their way through three games to host a super regional. That’s tough. Through four innings of Saturday’s 9-7 loss to UTSA in the Austin Regional, Texas looked the part of the No. 2 overall national seed. Summer conditioning kicks off tomorrow morning for the 2025 Texas Longhorns. The start of summer conditioning also brings the remaining new faces to campus for move-in and acclimation to the team. That list includes the Coleman brothers and Nick Townsend out of the high school ranks, and the portal additions of QB Matthew Caldwell, WR Emmett Mosley V, TE Jack Endries, DL Maraad Watson, DL Lavon Johnson and K Will Shipley. Still processing last night. I can only imagine what our team is feeling this morning. Sucks to lose that way. Couple of thoughts on the morning after… 1) I can’t recall another game all year with that many compounding mistakes in the field combined with stranding 10 runners on base. 2) It would be one things if we got beat playing our best and the other team simply played better. This stings more because much of the loss felt self inflicted due to poor execution. Hats off to UTSA for grinding after we took the 6-1 lead but we shot ourselves in the foot last night. After watching CJ and Bobby debate their view of Commissioner Sankeys published rebuttal. I was thinking why not create a way to actually prove whomever is the better team or “conference” in that particular space that is debatable. With the SEC allegedly looking at inter conference play-in games for the 3, 4, 5, and 6 seeds for CFP spot. I think they should look at cross conference play-in games. Excellent in depth analysis of Top 5 defensive lines (actually top 6) going into the season. Texas ranked #2 primarily due to our elite edge room starting with Colin Simmons but also Trey Moore and Ethan Burke. He mentions Anthony Hill as the other real threat, all of whom will make the DT job a bit easier.
