As August 30th is right around the corner, I feel like the nickel position is just becoming too much of an overthinking factor into our defense. No i’m not saying it’s not important as it could well be the most important position to play on this defense, I just feel people are too worried about it. Some are claiming Taffe isn’t ready for the challenge, but i say and believe he’s the best guy for it. He is most likely the undisputed leader of not just the defense but the whole team. There’s no one who wants it more than Taffe, so I don’t think adjusting to a new position is going to slow him or our defense down. Plus when our head coach is giving praise to a true freshman …

  2. Separated collarbone… will probably will over half the season .. tough blow https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/sec/2025/08/17/jam-miller-injury-update-alabama-football/85700207007/

  3. We are allowed 15 scholarship players. Is Coach still recruiting? Or is D-Mo still on scholarship as she tries to get better? You would think you would want every schollie filled. Thoughts?

  4. The current top sellers are the mug and the trucker hat. Hope you guys like the selection. We tried to broaden the choices some this year. http://shop.ontexasfootball.com

  5. We are down to just 13 days before the Longhorn square off against the Buckeyes in Columbus for the season opener. Who’s your favorite Texas player to wear number 13? Some options today include: Michael Dickson Todd Dodge Bill Hamilton

  6. Sorry if this is common knowledge or already discussed here, but I'm curious how eligibility for a dual sport athlete like Jonah Williams works, where he enrolled early and participated in baseball last academic year. I always assumed NCAA Eligibility followed academic years, so would he have used a year of eligibility for academic year 24-25? Also, if his hamstring keeps lingering, would a redshirt even be on the table with participation in baseball? 🤔

  7. Justice Finkley, who transferred from Texas to Kansas, is doing well with the Jayhawks. I talked to someone yesterday in the know in Lawrence who said Finkley has been everything the Kansas staff thought he'd be on the field, and that his leadership is so strong that he's in the mix to be a captain as a one-and-done transfer.

  9. Love seeing the guys ball out (sorry i saw it is in the nfl thread but didn’t want anyone to miss it)

  10. From Joe Schad, who covers the Dolphins for the Palm Beach Post: "I have Quinn Ewers on the projected roster. But we reserve the right to place him on practice squad at any time, depending on how the rest of preseason goes."

  11. 🤘 4 catches for 48 yards on 4 targets in first half

  12. Both teams have young unproven OLs and QBs. Ohio State is stronger at WR. Push at TE. Texas has edge at RB. Downs may be a great single player in the secondary but Texas has the superior overall defense. All that said, i keep coming back to the most obvious difference between the two teams is coaching staff continuity. Ohio State has highly unproven new play caller (and scheme designer), new OL coach, new def coordinator and several other new coaches on defense. With the exception of our secondary and RB coach (plus addition of new coach for the DEs) we have a MASSIVE advantage rage in coaching continuity. While our players should play loose and f…

  13. Grayson (Ga.) LB and Texas commit Tyler Atkinson is in action this evening. https://www.maxpreps.com/football/ It is the MaxPreps game of the week, and they are streaming it live here. Currently 7:55 p.m., it is in a weather delay, but it should get going soon for anyone interested.

  14. We are exactly two weeks away from the Longhorns taking on the Buckeyes for the season opener. Who’s your favorite No. 14 to play for Texas? Options today include… Eddie Phillips David Ash Russel Hays Brenden Schooler

  15. I’m thrilled to have 1 of the 4 stud LBs (Atkinson, Griffin, Rouse, Williams). I’m no evaluator so I was curious what the differences/traits were for all 4 players. Also, I know Texas is staying on Rouse and Williams. Izayia just flipped his commitment yet again and that recruitment definitely won’t be over until signing day. Does the amount of flips impact Texas’s pursuit of him or give the staff any pause? Thanks!

  18. I asked two different team sources to describe the play of freshman QB KJ Lacey. Received two different words back that I think fit him tremendously. *** "Gamer." "Elusive" *** Bobby Burton, Jeff Howe and I spoke about the quarterbacks behind Arch Manning on a recent video, with the Saraland Slinger receiving plenty of praise.

  19. A Collin County Grand Jury has no billed Isiah Bond which means his prosecution has ceased. Bond indicated he is headed to the Cleveland Browns.

  20. This was a good episode today on Sark's Masterpiece play calling. I think a good player that can plant and go on those screens is Ryan Niblett. I'd like to see him in that role.
