Sorry if this is common knowledge or already discussed here, but I'm curious how eligibility for a dual sport athlete like Jonah Williams works, where he enrolled early and participated in baseball last academic year. 

I always assumed NCAA Eligibility followed academic years, so would he have used a year of eligibility for academic year 24-25? Also, if his hamstring keeps lingering, would a redshirt even be on the table with participation in baseball? 🤔

I think they are unrelated but unsure man. Hope so 

AI says participating in any sport during a calendar year counts for a year of eligibility. Given the problems the NCAA has enforcing anything these days, doesn't seem like it would hold up.

No, he doesn't count as a baseball scholarship. He is football scholarship and his eligibility is tied to football.

I worked in compliance. Eligibility is determined generally by sport, but your 5 years is 5 years regardless. Once you enroll in college full-time the clock starts ticking. 

If he doesn’t play this season, he would not use a season in football. He did in baseball.

With all this in mind, it seems like Jonah's hamstring is troublesome. We're talking four or five months now. Might need to simply let him sit and recover.

Title of thread made me think he lost a bet with John Mateer.

Football scholarships dominate all other male sports scholarships.  The original post's author should consider revenue sharing for a clue if it he deso not know the scholarship history of previous dual sport athletes.
