Can you confirm that’s the correct interpretation of how the rankings adjusted? Just want to make sure I’m understanding the system accurately.

Well that news. Coach Freeman‑Carrington is due to give birth in September, so she’ll probably miss fall ball like you said. That’s normal timing, and fall is when staffs shuffle responsibilities anyway. Between Fremin’s head‑coaching background and PRT’s experience, the defensive side will be fully covered while she’s out.

His SLU bio doesn’t explicitly say “he coached defense.” That’s because college softball bios almost never break down assistant‑style responsibilities for a head coach. Head coaches don’t list “defense,” “offense,” “infield,” etc. - they list program‑level accomplishments. However, He ran the entire program - including defense( As a head coach, Fremin was responsible for all phases of the team: offense, defense, baserunning, and game management. That’s implicit in the role), His teams were elite defensively - which is evidence of defensive coaching(SLU… ranked among the national leaders in… ERA (8th), shutouts (7th)…” “The 2024 Lady Lions… set or tied school marks for… fielding percentage…” “The 2023 roster… set school records for… putouts…” Those are defensive metrics. Those don’t happen without a head coach who installs and oversees defensive systems.) Good question, @LonghornFan4Ever PRT is obviously the pitching coach, but the rest of the defense gets handled by the other two assistants. Fremin has run full defensive systems before, and Freeman has coached catchers and defensive units at multiple stops, so between them the infield/outfield work, positioning, and team defense are covered. White oversees all of it anyway, so the lanes stay pretty defined.

Many thanks for that post @Buck Travis.... From what you laid out, it’s pretty simple: Texas just added a legit swing technician. Freeman isn’t a vibes‑only hitting coach - she fixes sequencing, extension, and plane awareness, which is exactly why Arizona’s offense blew up. Fremin runs the system, Freeman builds the hitters, and PRT handles the arms. That’s balance, not duplication. White wins a natty, lands the No. 1 portal bat, and hires two elite assistants from a beach. Yup, man’s on a heater. 😀

If she can teach a riseball hitter to stay on plane, she can probably teach a linebacker to stay in his gap.

Always’ is a nice slogan, but not reality. Day‑of crashes happen when demand softens. For a top‑tier game like Ohio State, prices can just as easily spike. I’ve been on both sides of this equation - I couldn’t get tickets day‑of for the Texas–LSU 2019 game - so the idea that day‑of is always the best is just not how resale markets work. Not saying you’re wrong, just that it isn’t a guarantee for every matchup

watch craigslist...sometimes you can get great buys out there from those that can't attend the game. have been following Stubhub....these prices have been going up - not down Buying day of game may hurt those looking for tics this year. Wouldn't take the risk

I don’t think he was disputing anything. Speigelman’s update actually lines up with what’s already been discussed here. It’s just another piece of info pointing in the same direction for Texas. Recruiting updates come from a lot of places, and when multiple sources - local and national - are saying similar things, that usually strengthens the picture, not contradicts it. So I don’t see anything weird about sharing it. It just adds to the overall context.
