You can only have 15 players on a roster at a time in college basketball. With the addition of Marcus Spears Jr., all 15 of those spots are occupied at Texas now, so Pope and Weaver, if they win their cases, will be playing for different teams this college basketball season.

With the addition of Meredith, does Texas move Bishop back to working with the WRs or will he still train at DB?

Texas wins 7 or 8 regular season games and plays in a bowl for sure imo. I also wonder how the Arkansas game goes if Thompson had been named the starting QB from game 1. Honestly, the offense Texas had in those three games in the 2021 season is the offense I think Texas will have over the course of this season. The OL was not good back then either, and they still had that level of output offensively. They should be able to replicate that production in 2026. Hopefully Coleman can provide similar or superior production to a true freshman Worthy and Wingo is superior to any #2 WR Texas had in 2021. While there aren’t any RBs as good as Robinson and Johnson, I do think the running game will have a strong output with Brown, Smothers, and Cooper. Plus this team has better TEs.

Bingo! Texas is one of the few programs that has the athletes to successfully run Muschamp's scheme. Not saying it will be that good, but the offense should more closely resemble 2019 LSU or 2020 Alabama because of the upgrades at the skill positions as long as the OL takes a few steps forward.

Hopefully this game is preview for what it will be like for Texas to play in this arena for the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight matchups. Long way to go before March of next year though.

Still have some questions about the OL, but assuming Hutson is granted an extra season of eligibility, depth will not be one of those questions. There’s no way the OL can be worse than last season. Fingers crossed everyone stays healthy and that unit is good enough to unlock the full potential of this offense.

I hope so. If Vic Schaefer coaches this team to a Final Four, it would be the best coaching job of his 4+ decades coaching career imo. This team is young besides Booker, Cunningham, Preston, Graves, and Asbrink Hose. Feels like a step back to a second weekend exit for this season before a big step forward in the 2027-28 season if most of this team sticks together. But there is not much parity in women's college basketball, so Texas still has a chance to make a deep run. A young team, but a very talented team for sure.

The roster

Yeah they won’t fall off a cliff as a program as long as Patty Gasso is there, but they also won’t be “OMG how do you beat them” good like they were in 2023 anymore. They’ll be more like Bama football now. Doesn’t mean they can’t get back to the WCWS and win another national championship, but it won’t be OU vs the field like it was a few years ago.

All good. Use that money to hang onto Royal, push for a DJ Jacobs flip, and grab a big time WR in the next portal window.
