  1. I mean, I agree—I would take both in a heartbeat. But I’m wondering what the staff’s view is. Because those two are going to cost an arm and a leg in NIL, and the last time Texas overspent for a couple of 5-star WR recruits it didn’t go so well. It’s clear Sark is pivoting to favor more experienced talent through the portal, so it would be a bit of a surprise if they genuinely wanted to push for both receivers (unless they think both are actually THAT good and can both make instant contributions in 2027). With Coleman and Wingo likely both gone after this year, the staff pushing for two five-star WR recruits would signal that they likely won’t go heavy after a receiver in the portal. Not sure I love that strategy. Would leave us with a very young receiving corps for Lacey or Bell.
  2. Does the staff view him more as a contingency plan for Royal leaving for LSU, or do you think they’d ideally like both receivers?
  3. I think this is a monkey-typewriter-complete works of Shakespeare scenario, because usually the monkeys in Joe’s head are typing gibberish.
  4. I am not trying to be overly critical, but I have never quite gotten the hype. He is explosive compared to his level of competition, but I’ve never seen him match the burst and top-end speed in a vacuum of a Jaydon Blue or even Raleek Brown. I hope I’m just missing something very obvious with him, and obviously the stats and accolades clearly might point to me being way off. It’s just my lying eyes, I guess.
  5. That would be nasty
  6. Give CJ a break—his two favorite QBs have had a rough year
  7. I can already see the 3-page manifesto he is about to upload to X: “In this great country, we have a constitution. We have freedom. Legalized online gambling is what the founders would have wanted. If we can’t bet against our own teams, are we really any better than North Korea?”
  8. He and Arch were finally developing a rapport at the end of the season. Probably could have improved his stock by coming back another year.
  9. He’s really good, but not #3 overall good. That’s insane.
  10. Sark: “I rely on the expertise of Kyle Flood…” @Joe Zura is in shambles
  11. Team 3, no question. All day every day. I’m taking the Team 3 players head to head but also collectively as a team. QB: VY by a mile RB: this might be recency bias, but Bijan is on par or just a step down from the all-time great RBs. I think Jeff argued recently on a pod that Bijan has a chance to be the greatest Longhorn to ever play in the NFL. In any event, I view all four RBs as basically equivalent. WR: Mike Davis is clearly not in the same league as the other three, but he was still damn good in college. He was better than anyone VY played with in 05 (Pittman, Sweed, etc). VY wouldn’t need a Shipley or Worthy to kick the other teams’ asses. DB: Give me the only Thorpe winner on this list. Huff Daddy all day baby Other defense: DJ is the best defensive player in the modern era of longhorn football Come on, man. It’s really not that close.
  12. On #3 do you mean Charlie Jialek? Because he’s on the list at TE, not LB.
  13. I call this “CJ eats another street taco”
  14. When the GMs and agents are the ones shaping the direction of the sport, it’s clear that the incentives have become horribly misaligned.
