Marcus Johnson—what a blast from the past, @Jeff Howe. I still remember back when Marcus Johnson was a lowly-ranked recruit that Texas didn’t have much interest in. And his uncle started blowing up the OB message board with what seemed at the time to be these completely insane, over the top proclamations about how Marcus was going to be a future NFL player. Nobody took him seriously and it became a running joke. Yeah, yeah, Marcus Johnson. He’s not even good enough for Mack to offer, why are we wasting time on this guy when there are bigger fish out there like DGB and Thomas Johnson and Cayleb Jones. Even after he moved up the rankings a bit, it still felt like he was a long shot to ever play a meaningful down at Texas. But his uncle kept spamming the board with “watch out for Marcus Johnson, he’s the best receiver on the roster.” Everyone continued to laugh. But then the reports started to emerge about how he was one of the hardest workers on the team. And then he actually started to produce. And then he actually had a solid career at Texas. And then he got his shot in the NFL. Turns out Marcus Johnson and his uncle got the last laugh after all.

OU is not terrible. We haven’t exactly lit it up against their D. Weird stuff always happens in that game. Venables is going to be desperate to win, which is sometimes how you get severe underdogs pulling the upset against the superior team. I think OU will be better on offense this year. We’d better be ready to go in that game because OU will definitely bring the aggression this year.

Jamaal Charles ran 10.13 in the 100m in high school. Also, he only played one year at Texas, but Edorian McCullough won the state 100m title and ran 10.02. Both of those times are faster than Johnny Lam Jones’s fastest auto times (his sub-10 times were all hand timed and subsequently revised upward). I think it’s hard to argue against McCullough as the fastest Longhorn ever, with Charles and Jones as the next two.

I think we beat Ohio State but go 10-2 with losses to OU and LSU.

After we started enforcing that rule, I cannot begin to express how much cleaner the floors felt. They were disgusting before. It’s a good rule.

That’s a serious trap game for OU. They might find out the hard way in Gainesville like we did last year. If they lose at Florida, which is VERY possible, it is incredibly plausible that they are sitting at 5-4 (are they REALLY going to pull off wins on the road vs Michigan, Georgia, Texas, and Florida?). They finish with Ole Miss, A&M, and Mizzou. If they don’t find a way to go 2-2 in those tough road games, the wheels might come off. 6-6 feels very realistic for them.

This plus Ohio State for me

It’s crazy to think how dominant of a career he could have had if he hadn’t had so many personal ups and downs. Clear HOFer and one of the greatest to ever play the game would have been on the table IMO.

Joe knows that he’s my boy. But this is the same guy who brings up John Mateer anytime CJ posts anything on the board. Ditto muting with Blake, Aggie with Gerry, and hating the Midwest with Bobby. He’s practically asking for a pimp slap every now and then. I’m happy to oblige. 😃
