Bowling Green is a tough out !! If they lose this one, at home, it will be hilarious.

Texas vs ULM Game Thread
Texas is ripping off 3.4 yards per rush by the way. That sucks. (18 carries, 61 yards - Blue 15 for 66 yards, Gibson 2 for -1, Arch 1 for -4) What's going on with our run game? I understand it against Michigan but at some point soon we have to run the ball better, no?

WHERE IS BOBBY'S TUESDAY POST!?
He was far enough 'under the weather' last weekend that he missed the tailgate, so let's hope he's still not feeling ill. Giving him a mulligan on this one (unless he's actually at a golf course taking mulligans as we wait).

Isaiah Bond - fastest player in college football (so far)
On his 51 yard catch and run against UTSA WR Isaiah Bond became the first player to cross the 22 mph mark this season, making him the fastest player in college football thus far. A Worthy accomplishment 🙂 Nine other players have reached 21 mph this season (we only face one of them, from Florida). From the article on 247 at this link: 1. Isaiah Bond, WR, Texas (22.1 MPH) Bond became the first college football player to hit 22 MPH this season during a 50-yard touchdown in the third quarter of Texas' 56-7 win over UTSA in Week 3. The Longhorns boast some serious team speed. Backup quarterback Arch Manning hit 20.7 MPH on a 67-yard touchdown scamper against the Roadrunners. Running back Jaydon Blue hit 22.3 last season, while freshman wide receiver Ryan Wingo was officially clocked at 20.6 MPH as a senior in high school.

Sack totals
Hill is credited with a TFL, so maybe the stat guy thought it wasn't a passing play and credited Hill with a TFL instead of a sack?

SEC Points Per Drive Chart (Week 3)
Noticed we play five teams in or near that bottom left bad-bad quadrant and none of the other four teams in that upper right good-good quadrant 🙂

Texas talent has really improved (rankings analysis)
Nice work, thanks for posting this. Something similar from 247, the "Team Talent Composite", which looks at every scholarship player currently on the rosters (including transfers) and ranks accordingly. Bet you can guess who the top 2 are without looking. Texas is # 4. https://247sports.com/Season/2024-Football/CollegeTeamTalentComposite/

UGA player arrested
106 mph in a 2018 Jeep Cherokee? Imagine what that cat could do in a Lambo! $50 bond, lesson learned - that will teach him! From an article in the Athens Banner-Herald: Cornerback Daniel Harris was stopped on the Georgia 10 loop at College Station Road driving a 2018 Jeep Cherokee 106 miles per hour - 41 miles over the speed limit - while passing two other vehicles on a wet road in the rain at 8:03 p.m., according to an incident report obtained by the Athens Banner-Herald. The speed was indicated by Dragon Eye Lidar. The sophomore from Miami was pulled over by Athens-Clarke County police and booked into the Clarke County Jail at 10:40 p.m. and released at 11:49 p.m. on $50 in bonds, according to the online booking report.

Buy or Sell | SEC Teams Through 2 Weeks
"Arkansas showed signs of being the same old Arkansas against Oklahoma State with the way they lost that game with more than 200 yards of total offense." A typo or something? Arkansas ran for 232 yards and passed for 416 yards, so over 600 yards of total offense against OSU ...

Best newcomers in the NFL. Longhorns galore!
"Newcomer" to that team ... I mean, Brandon Jones got it too 🙂

Maalik Murphy in action - Duke vs Northwestern at 6 PM MT on Fox Sports 1
Yep. Makes you really appreciate the Texas receivers, who can at least get separation and catch the ball. I don't watch much college football besides Texas and maybe one other big weekly game, but watching this one brings home the fact that there are a lot of mediocre teams out there. I don't think there's another player on the field from either team who would have been recruited by Texas.

Maalik Murphy in action - Duke vs Northwestern at 6 PM MT on Fox Sports 1
Sorry I started this post guys. A lot of BAD football being played tonight 🙂 Muffed punt, blocked punt, missed 32 yard FG to tie the game ... tied game at 13-13 as I type this (of course - bad football so why not play OT?) Maalik almost lost the game when he appeared to fumble on the final drive but it was overturned upon review. Then with first down at I think the 13 and a minute to go he misses a wide open receiver in the end zone, then a decent run by a RB to about the 5 yard line, then a completed pass for -2 yards and a short FG to go to OT. At the end of regulation Maalik's passing numbers are 21/36 (58%) for 192 yards, 5.3 ypa, 1 TD, 1 INT. Could have had at least one more INT, should have had at least one more TD. When Maalik has time to throw and the first option is open he does fine but when the play breaks down he struggles.

Nerd bowl alert, played in the pop up stadium on the shores of Lake Michigan. Go Maalik. This game is starting in about half an hour. Hopefully you have something better to do on a Friday night, but if not this is your game thread! 🙂

0-2 FSU spent 12 million on NIL
A lot of the NIL data is coming from Openendorse's Black Book, which supposedly details about 30% of the estimated $1.7 billion NIL market (my source is the Athletic, via NY Times - link below - may need a sub to access it). Here are some of the tables in the article: they quote average for P4 starters and for position players in the SEC - FSU is paying much more than the average ACC program but roughly 60% of the SEC. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/08/31/business/nil-money-ncaa.html

Longhorn Named SEC Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week

Cam Williams named SEC co-offensive lineman of the week
Nice honor for the big fella, and he's the first Longhorn to win an SEC weekly award. As Sark said this speaks volumes about his development under Coach Flood. "Williams earned a PFF run-blocking grade of 73.4, the highest of any Longhorn offensive lineman in the Colorado State game (Williams was edged out by the 74.8 grade of true freshman wide receiver Ryan Wingo for the team lead). To Sarkisian's point, Williams escorted ball carriers down the field on screens and quick passes from quarterback Quinn Ewers while showing off his feet, balance and power as a pulling tackle." "Williams wasn't considered a sure thing as a recruit, but getting off on the right foot has Sarkisian believing in what Flood and head strength coach Torre Becton put Williams in a position to maximize his potential. "This thing speaks volumes to his development," Sarkisian said. "It's a credit to him, it's a credit to Coach Becton in the weight room, I think it's a credit to Coach Flood and just the development that he's had, not only on the field but off the field in his time here." https://247sports.com/college/texas/Article/texas-offensive-tackle-cameron-williams-named-sec-co-offensive-lineman-of-the-week-235563125/

UT transfers (outbound)
Don't forget the Nevada boys in their 28-26 win against Troy Savion Red - 11 carries for 135 yards (12.3 ypc) Kitan Crawford - 7 tackles, 2 solo Kristopher Ross - 6 tackles, 1 solo, 0.5 sacks, 1.5 TFL I wonder what Red weighs now? (listed at 216 ... had he kept to that weight he might still be a Longhorn) And Ross looked good in limited action last year ... oh well, wish you the best of luck fellas.
