OV note on 4-star+ RB K.J. Edwards

OnTexasFootball has learned that Carthage High 4-star+ running back K.J. Edwards has changed his Texas OV date to June 20-22. 

He was originally scheduled to OV June 6-8. 

Texas leads for Edwards.

Joking aside could say we land him could he be the only RB taken this year? I know it’s been 2 every year

Nope! Texas wants two ... see if they get the two they want.

And on 5-star RB Derrek Cooper (Hollywood, Fla./Chaminade-Madonna) ... Cooper still plans to make a June OV to Texas. OTF believes it will be a mid-week OV barring a change. 

4-star RB Carsyn Baker (Fairburn, Ga./Langston Hughes) is also a possibility for a June OV.

That’s what I should have said my bad. I bet they get KJ I just don’t think cooper and the Alabama RB will come to Texas unfortunately

It's the kind of position that is subject to injuries.  Even if it's just a tweak, it's a tough position to make it a whole season with no down time.  Gotta take 2.

Not just that, but with the length of the season being what it is, fatigue certainly comes into play. Outside of qb, I think the days of just having your starters and a couple relief guys ready is over. You need to have a plan in place for players to go in and there be no significant drop off in production.

I love Edwards.  He will be a nightmare for defenses on 3rd down.

If Texas gets a mid week with Cooper do we realistically think he would pick Texas over the visits he is doing the full weekend visit for?

Tough to know until it actually happens. Of course, just getting him back on campus is the objective, but it won't have the same feel as the other official visits for both Texas and Cooper.

 

Cooper will get the full attention of available staff during a mid-week visit.  More immersion in the Texas culture is exactly what he needs.

If he doesn’t shuffle visits around so Texas gets a wknd visit I think the odds of him ending up at Texas are low.
