Brent Venables and the OU offense have made a change at quarterback.

Freshman Michael Hawkins has been named the starting quarterback for the Sooners. Oklahoma goes on the road this weekend to Auburn where they are currently 2.5-point favorites.

 

Love it!  We are going to smoke them no matter who is at QB.  

What little faith I had in Venables as a headcoach it's gone. How do you let a 6th year senior walk? Then instead of spending NIL on real playmakers and offensive line you spend on a slot WR and defensive tackles. Now you bench a redshirt freshman to start another freshman. Venables have no clue how to manage talent or build a roster. I mean sure your side of the ball is fixed, but you can't score and your place kickers suck😂 gotta love it as a Texas fan. 

I assume Jackson Arnold’s dad is trying to find a new university this week.   Perhaps a quarter system school would work?

Can’t play until next year regardless where he  transfer.  The  portal isn’t open yet.

This was a panic and desperation move. Oklahoma's bowl game showed Arnold didn't make good decisions and turnerover prone. Instead of having an open competition, he named Arnold the starter. Now if Hawkins isn't the answer good luck going back to Arnold because he checked out the minute you pulled him.

For some reason I listened to Teddy Lehman and that Ikgard-guy's podcast last night.  Today, I listened to my usual Joel Klatt podcast.

They both said the same thing - this isn't a QB issue, it's an OL and offensive scheme issue.

If Hawkins isn't the next Vick, they are going to be overspending for a portal QB, and ask Norvell how that can work out.

Typically everything ou touches works out for the benefit of the program.

They are due for some bad fortune.

He seems like a fine player but he looked awfully scrawny out there. With how much he likes to freelance paired with that OL, I don't see him staying healthy for long.
