I mentioned earlier this week that Texas planned to be both strategic and aggressive when it came to the transfer portal. Example no. 1 revealed itself Wednesday afternoon, the very first day the portal opened. ESPN national reporter Pete Thamel broke the news that Texas is receiving a visit from Jack Endries, the no. 1 tight end in the portal, out of Cal. Endries was thought to more likely be headed to Indiana or even Oklahoma before the news of the Texas visit broke. Thr Horns seemed to have skipped the line on their opposition. Sunshine State 4-star++ sets June OV OnTexasFootball made a couple of calls in the Pensacola today, and picked some OV news. 4-star++ EDGE Trenton Henderson (Pensacola/Catholic) is scheduled to make an OV to Texas June 13-15. That is a shift, as the Florida Gators had been expecting to receive an OV that weekend. The 6-4.5, 225-pounder is also scheduled to make OV’s to Auburn May 16-18, LSU May 30-June 2, Michigan June 6-8 and either Florida or USC June 20-22. 2026 Kamehameha (Hi.) OL Malakai Lee Talks Texas After Official Visit One of the largest visitors on campus, literally, was 2026 OL Malakai Lee. The first real look to Austin was well worth the nine hour travel day to and from the islands. With a final four of Michigan, Texas, Alabama and Georgia already set, Lee is closing in on a decision. He mentioned following his official visit to Texas that a decision is likely to come at the end of June or very early into the month of July. OTF is told that freshman tight end Emaree Winston is out with an injured shoulder that will likely require him to miss at least a couple of months of this season. Winston did not participate in today's scrimmage. The injury came earlier in the week. Winston, a Georgia native, was off to a terrific start in Austin, splitting reps with blue chipper Nick Townsend and holding his own. It's a tough loss from a depth standpoint but Texas still has portal transfer Jack Endries and redshirt sophomore Spencer Shannon who started today's scrimmage with the 1s. Jordan Washington started the second half of scrimmage alongside Endries.

Over 50 players from Texas on rosters for No. 1 at No. 2 showdown There are a combined 53 players on the rosters of Texas and Ohio State that played and graduated from high schools in the Lone Star State. The number breakdown is 48 Longhorns and five Buckeyes. The National Semi-Final game last year included 12 players from the state that were selected in the 2025 NFL draft with 11 Longhorns and one Buckeye (Donovan Jackson). The No. 2 ranked Longhorns are 13-0 heading into today’s matchup at South Dakota State. While they’ve had no trouble beating five Top 25 opponents (with the majority being in the Top 15) during that time, one thing that has been an issue is the health of the team. Texas to Host 2027 LB Joakim Gouda on March 10th *** Adding to the list of prospects who will be seeing campus in March is South Palding (Ga.) linebacker Joakim Gouda. Gouda will take a trip to campus March 10th, one day after spring football kicks off for the Longhorns. Currently ranked as a three-star prospect, Gouda has been one of the fastest risers in the winter evaluation period. He is currently listed at 6-foot-2-inches tall and 220 pounds. Texas extended an offer to San Bernardino (Calif.) Cajon offensive tackle Austin Attalah on Friday. The 2028 prospect, fittingly named Austin, says the Longhorns are now his No. 1 school. "I cried," Attalah told OTF. "Been a UT fan all my life." The Longhorns lead ahead of a long list of offers that includes UCLA, Oregon, Miami, LSU, and others. How Texas Built its Depth in 2026 *** Tuesday's addition of SMU offensive lineman Paris Patterson was another example of the Texas staff finding ways to bolster its roster without 1) breaking the bank or 2) expediting the development of young talent. Texas is at the exact midpoint of spring ball. Today is practice no. 8 of 15 total. Couple of notes: 1. Because of expected inclement weather on Saturday, Texas has moved its annual high school coaching clinic from Saturday to Friday. 2028 quarterback Graham Simpson tells OTF he'll be back in Austin next Wednesday, June 3, to workout for the Longhorns staff and visit the University. Simpson, a product of Martin (Tenn.) Westview, is the younger brother of former Alabama, now LA Rams quarterback Ty Simpson. He's also the son of UT-Martin head coach Jason Simpson. Texas Commits Locked In After OV Weekend #1 *** There were two very consistent themes from official visitors coming out of weekend one for the Texas Longhorns. For committed prospects, many scrapped the idea of visiting elsewhere following the June 5th visit. For the uncommitted visitors, there were talks of moving up decision timelines.
