  1. As Texas prepares for the Final Four against South Carolina, I spoke with a couple of sources regarding the team, the future and more. - Texas felt they matched up really well against TCU in the Elite 8 and confidence was high in coming away with a victory (obviously for good reason, as Texas won 58-47). - The team is well aware that it gets harder this go round and they’re going to have to shoot better against South Carolina, but it seems they’re anxious to settle the score. One source said there is a quiet confidence in the locker room. I’m also told that they feel they are a “different team” right now versus the one that played SC in the SEC Tournament Cham…

  3. Started by Bobby Burton,

Hearing more and more about offensive lineman Connor Stroh having a very strong fall camp. Stroh has started running some with the 1s on a regular basis, even when Neto Umeozulu is not pushed out to tackle. Stroh’s size and ability to move some of the bigger Texas DLs has caught the eyes of coaches. Umeozulu has been very physical in camp. But Stroh’s size is just hard to overcome, especially as Texas looks to deploy a somewhat different run scheme this season. We don’t know what the exact rotation will be - whether Stroh has outright won the job or if he will spell Umeozulu - but suffice to say Stroh is expected to see action on Saturday barring something unfor…

  7. As Dakorien Moore, the state’s no. 1 prospect, approaches his announcement this evening, his commitment will not make or break the Texas Longhorns. No single recruit ever will do that, that’s part of what is special about a place like Texas. However, make no mistake, Moore is a “very” special player. He’s the type that helps teams win national championships. He’s the kind that not only can help you get to that game, but make big plays in it. ** Texas has an unquestionably better situation for Moore long-term in my opinion than Oregon, who I think is the key contender for Moore. Texas not only has the better future QB situation with Arch Manning an…

  8. OTF can confirm the initial report by 247Sports National that Toledo linebacker Markus Boswell has signed with Texas. Boswell was a true freshman for Toledo last season. He registered 19 tackles. He played his high school ball at Lake Travis. Boswell’s father is a former UT and Olympic High Jumper. That makes 16 commitments for the Horns in this portal cycle and the third linebacker, joining Rasheem Biles and Justin Cryer. View full news story

  10. Will Sunday resemble Saturday for Sean Miller and staff? Sean Miller and staff reeled in their top guard target in the portal Saturday with the commitment of Colorado transfer Isaiah Johnson (Los Angeles/Campbell Hall). After a couple of hours to celebrate, Texas is now in another battle for TCU transfer 4-man David Punch (Killeen/Harker Heights). And it is a battle. TCU is still trying to get him to return, and has made another NIL pitch after he hit the portal. Texas Tech is also battle with a NIL offer. Projected starters: Isaiah Johnson, CG/PG, 6-1, sophomore (16.9 ppg, 2.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists at Colorado) Austin Goosby, CG, 6-5.5, freshman (…

  12. The big info: - Not much has changed since yesterday. I fully expect it to be one of the two candidates I alluded to on Monday afternoon. Unless something drastic happens, Schlossnagle or Vitello will be the next head coach of Texas. - I'd expect an announcement tomorrow, although there's a chance it could be Thursday. The big picture: This is huge for Texas. HUGE. For so many reasons. Here's a quick rundown of some of those... - I've had numerous sources reach out to me today telling me this will open the door for recruiting in a major way and could even impact football recruiting. - This is going to help NIL efforts. Fans will be behind thi…

  13. Started by Bobby Burton,

Some recruiting notes from yesterday and a bit of an overview that missed much of it while at the game: - Grayson, Ga., DL Joseph Mbatchou became the 24th commitment of the class of 2025. Of Cameroon descent but a longtime Atlanta resident, Mbatchou is playing his first year of high school football yet became one of the hottest recruiting commodities late this year. - Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick DL Nathaniel Marshall made a surprise official visit to Austin over the weekend. Marshall has been committed to Auburn. He becomes the latest DL the Tigers and Longhorns are fighting over. It’s unclear quite yet just how serious Marshall might be about the Longhorns, but tak…

  14. The University of Texas has its 27th head coach in program history. Chris Del Conte has hired Sean Miller as the next coach of the Texas Longhorns. Our Gerry Hamilton has been all over the coaching search and quickly pointed towards Sean Miller being a possibility for the Longhorns and alas, the move has been made. Miller began his head coaching career at Xavier in the 2004-05 season. During his initial five-year tenure (2004-2009), he led the Musketeers to a 120-47 record and four NCAA tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight run. Miller returned to Xavier in 2022 and led the team to a 27-10 record in his first season back, tying the school record for B…

  15. SEC Hoops: Texas at Missouri Game Thread Texas (15-9, 6-5) is in Columbia, Mo. Saturday to take on the Missouri Tigers (17-7, 7-4) in a game that is being billed as a must win game for Missouri. The Tigers are 7-4 in SEC play after the win at Texas A&M earlier in the week, and are firmly on the bubble for March Madness in various bracketology publication. The Longhorns are also a bubble team, but with a higher NCAA NET and various rankings. Texas needs to find three more wins to finish 9-9 in SEC play to ensure a NCAA Tournament berth. If Texas wins Saturday, finishing 9-9 because a much higher probability. The Longhorns have won three straight SEC…

  16. I have confirmed that pitcher Sophia Bordi is no longer on the team. Bordi, who transferred to Texas from Oklahoma, was ranked as the nation's No. 1 pitcher in the 2026 recruiting class. The former Gatorade New Jersey Player of the Year never pitched for the Longhorns, as she was ineligible for the 2026 season due to transfer rules. The Longhorns just signed leftie Samantha Lincoln (Texas Tech) out of the portal, who is expected to be the No. 2 next season. --- Speaking of the portal, I expect the Longhorns to pretty much be done. There's obviously a chance they could sign some depth pieces (or if, NIL wise, a player wanted to come cheap), but overall …

  17. Portal: Some early names to know It's here! Texas is hosting a pair of visitors out of the portal today. Purdue transfer Max Klare (TE) and Cole Brevard (DL); and Utah transfer Jake Bouwmeester (P) are on campus in Austin. Along with players beginning to visit Texas, there is also a few names we are monitoring to see if they enter the portal. One of those is USC WR Zachariah Branch (5-10, 175). OnTexasFootball continues to update and provide some names of note, potentially, that are already in the portal. Tight end Max Klare, 6-4, 240, Purdue (sophomore) 2024 stats: 51 receptions, 685 yards and 4 TD's. Third team All-Big 10 Defensive line …

  18. Two 4-star DL's committed elsewhere in Austin The Texas Longhorns are hosting a pair of 4-star defensive lineman committed to other power programs today. Steve Sarkisian and Kenny Baker are continuing to go after top targets on the defensive line, and now a new target has emerged. OnTexasFootball has the scoop here: Antonio Coleman, DL, Saraland (Ala.) High When Bo Davis was at Texas, the Longhorns attempted to pursue the 4-star teammate of quarterback commitment K.J. Lacey. During that time, the 6-2 and 275 pound athletic disruptor, committed to Alabama, flipped to Auburn and then flipped back to Alabama. Now the Texas Longhorns are engaged in …

  19. EDIT 10:49 AM CT — Meredith has been ruled ineligible to play at North Crowley this fall and will only have varsity eligibility if he transfers back to Euless Trinity *** Meredith was ruled ineligible due to moving for athletic reasons after transferring from Euless Trinity to North Crowley earlier this offseason. He has since filed an appeal and will hear if he won tomorrow morning. 4-star Georgia QB commit Colton Nussmeier, who transferred to Denton Ryan from Flower Mound Marcus, also has a ruling scheduled for tomorrow. Nussmeier is going through the same process as Meredith and filed an appeal after being ruled ineligible due to moving for athletic…

  20. Jamarion Carlton to Make Commitment Decision at 4:00 p.m. It is decision day for 2026 Temple EDGE Jamarion Carlton. There will be four hats on the table this afternoon when the Temple star announces his commitment: LSU, Texas, Baylor and Texas Tech. I believe Baylor has the higher offer on the table for now, and there has been momentum in favor of the Bears since June 20. Though, the relationship with LaAllen Clark should not be counted out. 21. SEC Hoops: Texas vs. Ole Miss Game Thread Texas (14-9, 5-5) is playing host to Chris Beard's Ole Miss Rebels (11-11, 3-6) at 1 p.m on the ESPN2. The Longhorns have won back-to-back games, and three of the last four. Should Texas win today, they would ascend to over .500 in conference play for first time this season. The game When: 1 p.m. CT Where: Moody Center (Austin, Texas) TV: ESPN2 Betting line Texas -9.5 O/U: 145.5 Texas 2025-26 roster Starters: Jordan Pope, CG, 6-0, senior (12.5 points, 1.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists) Tramon Mark, CG, 6-6, Gr. 22. Add five more stars! 2026 Chaminade Madonna (Fla.) RB Derrek Cooper has committed to the Texas Longhorns! A massive commitment from the Sunshine State gives the Longhorns its running back for the 2026 class. In a massive swing for the cycle, Texas lands one of the top running backs in the country over the likes of Miami, Georgia, Florida State and Florida. What a roller coaster it has been for the Longhorns at the running back position in the 2026 cycle. But all's well that ends well and right now, I don't think you will be hearing any gripes after the commitment of Cooper. The Longhorns land Cooper without receiving an official visit, securing a massive co…

  24. Started by Gerry Hamilton,

NCAA Selection Sunday Thread The Texas men await Selection Sunday with real uncertainty, while the women will be celebrating a No. 1 seed. Do the men get in? Rodney Terry's squad is squarely on the bubble. Some think Texas will be left out. Some think Texas will get the last spot in the Field of 68 play-in game. The teams that are in the same position as Texas headed into Selection Sunday are Indiana, North Carolina, Xavier and Boise State. Barring an upset in the A-10 or AAC tournament finals, there are two spots for the five teams mentioned above. Texas (19-15): NCAA NET: 39 Quad 1: 7-10 Quad 2: 3-5 In favor of Texas ... Pla…

  25. With their season coming to a close after a Final Four appearance, Texas Women's Basketball Head Coach Vic Schaefer and his staff are expected to be very busy in the portal over the next couple of weeks. While I've been asked to hold off on giving a name at this time, the staff is hosting a big time visitor this week. I can tell you she's an impact player who can score. I will provide more information on that later, but Texas feels really good on where things currently stand. Don't be surprised if the Longhorns close on this one. Next week is looking to be an extremely busy one as well, with multiple visitors expected on campus. One name to look for is…
