RIP Ryno. Probably my favorite all time player, became a Cubs fan watching him in the 80s and been one since. Cancer sucks

I thought this was a really interesting question from @Jarveaux on a topic posted Friday afternoon. Could Texas QB Arch Manning be the first quarterback in Texas history to reach 4,000 passing yards in a single season? Doing so would set a new single season passing record for The University of Texas, breaking Colt McCoy's 2008 season of 3,859 yards. Given the length of the College Football Playoff schedule and the expectation/talent on roster currently, it is definitely within the realm of possibility. In fact, I believe it will happen. The Longhorns could play anywhere from 12–16 games in 2025. Of course, I think I speak for everyone when I say playing onl…

Here’s what Cowboys HC Coach Brian Schottenheimer had to say about former Texas RB Jaydon Blue: "Yeah, the speed, the dynamic playmaking ability. I think he's a dual-threat guy. I think you can hand him the ball. He doesn't need a lot of space to make people miss, and his acceleration is uncanny. I mean, his ability to get to top speed is unique," Schottenheimer said. "He's just, he's such a talented young man. But what I like is the professionalism that he's shown at this camp.“ "I think it's one of those things where, like, he's here and he's like, 'Okay, I think it's kind of go time. I have my little bit of learning curve in the off-season program and all thi…

Texas Football standouts Arch Manning and Quintrevion Wisner have been named to the preseason watch list for the 89th Maxwell Award, given annually to the College Player of the Year. Manning, a redshirt sophomore quarterback, impressed in 2024 with a 2-0 record as a starter, nearly 1,000 passing yards, and nine touchdowns. Wisner, a junior running back, rushed for over 1,000 yards and added 411 receiving yards en route to All-SEC honors. It's the first Maxwell Award watch list selection for both players, positioning them among college football's top talents heading into the 2025 season.

I was listening to Rod B’s podcast this morning and came away optimistic that our redzone problems are fixed for 2025. Each of the problems Rod identified from the last couple of years have been corrected. 1. OL not “bullies” - Majors and Connor replaced with better run blockers in Umeozulu and Hutson. 2. RBs not inside runners - Instead of Wisner and Blue in the redzone, we have Baxter, Gibson, Clark and Simon. We will be running more gap scheme and inside zone as opposed to outside zone which Wisner and Blue were better at. While we had Gibson last year (and he was our best redzone runner), he was a true freshman who hadn’t figured out ball security. Hopef…

We are officially on fall camp week! Practice kicks off on Wednesday, and for the Horns, there will be plenty of eyes on how the Arch Manning-led offense will look early on in camp. A couple of nuggets from the last month or so of workouts. *** • First, there has been an extra emphasis from wide out throwing sessions to focus on the back shoulder throw. Primarily focusing on body control and showing hands late when the ball is in the air. Those routes include typical go routes, hole shots in zone coverage, slot fades and seam routes. The expectation is there will be more of these routes and throws in the Texas offense this season with Manning than…

We are down to just 35 days before the season opener in Columbus. Which Texas player that donned No. 35 over the years is your favorite? An option today includes… Jim Bertelsen Bertelsen was a standout tailback during the wishbone era from 1969 to 1971. He played a key role in Texas’ success, including the 1969 and 1970 national championships, rushing for 2,510 yards and 33 touchdowns over his college career. Known for his speed and versatility, he was a two-time All-Southwest Conference selection and later played in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams.
