Considering we won 43 of the games this year, the percentages are on our side.

Crickets from some of the posters who threw in the towel because we encountered a few bumps in the road playing in the toughest league in America 🙂 I think Thomas Burns is the X-factor for this team. If he can continue providing what he did today, that will go a long way.

I will lose respect for this athletic department if they ever willingly put Texas Tech on the schedule.

Pulling that stunt 100 days before the start of the season and you know his own fanbase will eat it up. Funny how he didn't offer to play week 2 and buy out Ohio State

Brody Walls is someone on the pitching staff I think could play a big role if we get into some wild games or have to crawl out of a losers bracket.

4 bullpens arms with ERA’s under 4.00 is about as good as you will find in the college game. UC Santa Barbara has one of the best ERA’s in the country and has the same number of bullpen arms with ERA’s under 4.00 that we do.

Leffew is a main part of the bullpen, so I would hope he is doing more than just helping out. We need him to be the best version of what he’s shown in spurts.

I don’t think any team in modern day college baseball (smaller rosters, fewer pitchers) is truly built to survive a losers bracket without some real heroics. There’s a reason the advance rate for teams who start 2-0 is something like over 80%.

Arkansas not hosting is just another data point for how much these conference tournaments do not matter.

Texas had 1.5 starters and Volantis on the pitching staff by the end of last year. They are in a much better spot this year.

We faced two first round picks today. That type of pitching isn’t coming to the Austin Regional. And we have been strong offensively at home all year. I know you’ve convinced yourself for 2 months that this team isn’t winning in the postseason because we lost some games but let’s see what happens.

They are significantly better in pretty much every meaningful offensive stat.

Well good news. Arkansas ain’t gonna be in our regional

It's a money grab. Same in basketball. It's dumb that you have 30 conference games over almost 3 months, then throw all that out the window for a 4 or 5-day tournament where some teams treat it like the World Series, and others don't care at all. And in smaller conferences, you are ignoring 90% of the season to crown your automatic bid. Does Major League Baseball have an AL West or NL West tournament at the end of the year to determine the division winner?

His quote about retention being priority #1 should be pinned on the OTF board forever: ”what’s going to be more upsetting, losing a HS recruit or letting Arch Manning walk out the door?”

The established guys are usually good. The B pitchers are the B pitchers for a reason.

Every team has injuries. The committee isn’t punishing Texas for that.

Results matter more. 18 SEC wins. Top 5 RPI. Top 5 KPI. Top 5 DSR.

Texas isn’t anywhere close to the #8 seed. It’s a body of work. And Texas’ body of work will have them in the top 5 or 6 overall regardless of what happens the next week.

I know. I’m just saying you can’t blame the reliever when he inherits bases loaded with 1 out. The damage was largely done prior to Burns coming in.

I would mainly blame leaving the starter in 3 batters too long for this situation.
