Feel like the team deserves to be kept in the conversation after their accomplishment. Looks like Coach is bringing in a pretty talented class, one of the players just won Gatorade player of the year. Hopefully fill in the holes left by key departing seniors. Get Kavan some help while shoring up the defense and the team is well positioned to defend their title next year. Separately. sand aggy is straight up not even hiding the fact that they are going all in on spending money signing about 5 of the top portal players and having their lower ranked players pack their bags.

Coach White is going to need to pull a few transfers imo because losing 6 seniors is no joke, especially when 1 of them is a superstar in Mia Scott. A couple of former #1 recruits in the portal right now that are available including a pitcher from UCLA.

Do we know her skillset and what she brings?

Texas currently has the #4 recruiting class with no top 20 players. However the portal can be an equalizer if you get the right players as evidenced by Tech.

CDC and the Texas team organized this in less than 24 hours. They must have worked all night on the logistics, that or they had plans assuming they would win it all prior to the games.

I’d definitely say it worked for them, national exposure, made it to the championship and had a chance to win it all, love fest for the Cinderella story. Without Canady they don’t even make a regional.

I'm thinking Mac starts and Kavan comes in to close, else she goes game 3 if necessary. Late in the WCWS, White said that Kavan lost some velocity when she was tired, so it makes a difference for her to get rest.

Not in softball, but Bo Jackson hit a double when they tried to intentionally walk him in the pros. And there the catcher was standing outside the box. Doesn’t take away from Reese though, that was clutch and some next level thinking on the spot.

That's extremely difficult, you have guys and gals before my time like James Street who not only won a national championship, he never lost a game as QB, and he's also thrown the only perfect game in UT baseball history. You'd probably need to make a Mt. Rushmore per sport and even then it would be difficult in some of the sports. Other notable names: Early Campbell (1st Heisman trophy), Cat (Gold medal, multiple PoY awards), Clarissa Davis (national champion in bball, 2x PoY), Ben Crenshaw (3x NCAA champion), Tommy Nobis (national champion), Madi Skinner (3x national champion - back to back with Texas), Julien Alfred for track & field, Tara Davis for long jump, the list goes on and on.

Cat Osterman was ahead of her time, just imagine how many wins she'd have if she had an offense like the current Texas softball team. She was beyond dominant.

As I think through the major the team sports, I would have to agree with you that in softball, 1 pitcher can literally carry the team. Cat Osterman did it for Texas back in the day and had they had a shadow of an offense would have won the natty a few times. There were so many games where Cat lost and the decision was 1-0 in extra innings. Like literally all the team had to do was score 1 run during regulation for the win. No other team sport can 1 player carry the team with little help. Baseball might be close, but the pitcher can only go once every few days. Near impossible in football, even if a person plays both ways, possible in basketball, but extremely difficult, volleyball no way.

The announcers really were trying to sell that Canady went to Tech because they would work on her hitting. That may have been a factor, but I'm hard pressed to believe that the $1 mil was not the bigger factor. If Tech wins it, it's proven that in softball you can basically buy your championship.

Also ou fans claiming that they don’t have home field advantage because it’s not in Norman is either ignorant or arrogant, probably both. its probably above their education level to understand that logistically it’s easier for their fans to go to the game because it’s in their home state and the drive is likely shorter than from Dallas to Austin, especially for weekday games when most people have to work or take time off. You average fan wouldn’t be able to say - hey let’s go watch the wcws on a whim.
