This is part of the problem. It was a special circumstance, so using the traditional list of candidates to say he’s not qualified holds no water. There was a special circumstance so it does make sense. I have never bought the PR issue. How does it look bad for Texas? There is no solid fan base, so who does it look bad to? And if say Mark Few was available, does CDC say no to him, because it looks bad to ….who?

Have to find a way to pass better with Tre starting. I would try having Tre bring the ball up. It would help spread the floor more for Pope, Mark and a few others. Kaluma and Tre have developed some chemistry. You can see them talking a lot during time outs.

Appreciate you branching out to other sports. I have become a fan of volleyball as well. Before they made a change in baseball last year, they had a real problem with the same sport. Numerous coaches used the Texas baseball opening to get raises at the school they were already at.

They are on a budget. When did I say Tre got here without the NIL? When it came down to a difference maker in Toppin, they said no. And that is the gaping hole we see every game. When Texas football came down to Terry from Georgia, they paid. NIL money comes with the option of where the money gets applied. That’s where the problem starts. Fans will give the money to football. Texas needs enough fans to give it to basketball.

I thought it was the administration. I don’t think that’s it anymore. Other than marketing basketball more there really isn’t an issue. When Beard was hired he briefly made more than Sark. I think the issue is more with those with money and the NIL. I don’t think enough fans really care that much. And that does affect the NIL. Even in Barnes hey day, typically the stands didn’t get full until after football ended. They would pack the Erwin Center for non conference opponents that were highly ranked.

It’s not like those games were packed with fans. And the ones that were there looked as lifeless as Texas in the first half against Connecticut.
