Did Barnes have sold out arenas during his glory days? No Did he have to get a camera installed to see who wasn’t showing up on the lower level? Yes Did fans travel? No Texas was more involved then versus the one year Beard was here. Barnes had plenty of arena’s rocking and it still wasn’t enough. And his record dwarfs Beards by a thousand miles.

I always believe anything is possible if Texas basketball NIL is based on reality. Right now the Texas one fund is low and football fans are stepping up. Bobby mentioned today that numerous players took less money to stay. That’s a sign of their culture. It’s a shocking statement for basketball fans though. The NIL may be reduced. RT hasn’t had the time to set a firm culture to allow players to take less when others offer more. Throw the portal in which means anyone can leave at anytime and it gets even more difficult.

He does an assessment at the end of the year. Will have to see how they finish and CDC can go off that. No point in making a move if all they are interested in is getting to the tournament and giving football fans some time to waste until football comes around again.

Penders, Barnes, Smart and Beard did not come from a blue blood basketball school. Remember that coach already has his program running well. Not going to drop everything he has already built to come to a football school. He already has his NIL fund where he wants it. Not coming to virtually no fan base and limited NIL. No blue blood basketball coach is coming to a blue blood football school.

This was an “expected loss.” Yeah they can still make the tournament. Which leads to is that enough? That would be three straight tournament appearances in a row. It’s been more than a decade since that happened. In my opinion it’s not enough. However then you have to talk about who they can get. Which leads to the NIL budget for Texas, which further narrows the list. Just not enough BMDs supporting basketball. Also a small fan base. One guy commented that he wasn’t watching but could tell by the score…. that’s another issue. It’s a lukewarm fan base at best. They show up when football is over and complain. They don’t show up for games and don’t travel. Who’s coming to that?

@512Horn tell me your list of coaches and why they come. Remember no basketball blue blood coach has ever come to Texas. So take those out. Give me your list.

I am supporting any team and any coach. Not supporting quitters. Should have pulled all of them at the four minute mark.
