Texas is making strides in areas that matter down the stretch
Texas Defensive Secondary simply does not communicate well or force the issue with qbs by playing 8 to 12 yards off. When playing zone or partial zone they dont pass off wrs/tes off to the tertiary defender. The one that baffles me is against Vandy.Eli Stowers is head and shoulders above all of the other receivers and he ran free more times than i could count. You have to know especially in critical downs and circumstances that was where the ball was headed. I dont know if this is specifically a db coach issue or a coordinaor issue but it has to get fixed or UGA and Branch is gonna have a field day.

A personal note from me to the OTF community…
God gives us perils to grow from to learn to lean on his strength snd grace to grow. Its great to hear that from the least likely to reach out to the most likely and everyone in between put sport/ school affiliation etc aside for a moment that was and still is simply greater. Prayers up.

Snap Judgments: No. 20 Texas hangs on for a 34-31 win over No. 9 Vanderbilt
Texas has to get that secondary sorted out. Give way to much cushion. Maybe PK needs to dial up a little more pressure to shorten the amount of time those dbs have to cover as well. Hats off for the first 85% of the game.

No. 20 Texas vs. No. 9 Vanderbilt Game Thread
Out of curiosity....is it me or has the officiating in the SEC seemed more suspect than years past? It may be just coincidence but the questionable officiating seems to have gotten worse every year since the widespread availability of legalized gambling. This Texas game sure looked a lot like point shaving imo.

This is why “national” reporters don’t get it
Isn't the athletic the same garbage rag that put out the hit piece on Arch earlier?

Snap Judgments: Texas defies the odds and saves its season with a 45-38 overtime win over Mississippi State
This was likely Mannings 2nd concussion in 2 seasons. I have concern for the young mans health long term. What makes him unique is his abilty to scramble and create with his legs but he has to learn to get down to keep his career going. Love the toughness but sometimes the greater part of the sport is the ability to make it through the season.

Texas is determined to 'go up and be consistent' heading into the Kentucky game
Consistent and hopefully disciplined. No dumb penalties or turnovers.

No. 21 Texas at Kentucky: It's a night game!
How hard is it going to be for Texas to keep the same intensity they had at Joklahoma for the rest of this regular season? IMHO this will be a huge test for the leadership on this team to keep the focus where it needs to be. Week to week, game to game, play to play.

Snap Judgments: Texas answers the bell by smothering No. 6 Oklahoma, 23-6
The discipline shown in this game was massive. No turnovers, limiting penalties, finishing plays etc. Another big thing is getting the ball out quicker, not trying to force the big play. Sark did a much better job playcalling. Having a full complement of players didnt hurt either. Hook Em

Snap Judgments: Texas bullied up front in an SEC-opening loss to Florida
If Texas is smart they will start using that younger talent across the board. This year may be a rebuilding year but they sure could get the youngsters a bunch of run and see where things shake out. The guys that they are leaning on now are 3 and 4 year guys and ovviosly not the answer.

Final Thoughts: Biggest Area of Improvement for Arch in Non-Con
IF Texas practices good on good and our defense really mixes and disguises things up every day on the practice field it would do a ton to help Arch. I dont see much over the next 3 weeks during games that are going to do much other than build confidence. Opponents wont do much to truly challenge this offense because of the talent gap. Just my 2 cents.

Thoughts on Arch Manning
As underwhelming as this performance was, its start 1 of game 1.

Thoughts on Arch Manning
Gameplan was lackluster and it looked like Arch was uncomfortable and not going thru his reads efficiently.

Thoughts on what happened to No. 1 Texas in a 14-7, season-opening loss to No. 3 Ohio State
Aside from previous mentioned areas, poor play calling etc, my question falls to the defensive side. Why with all of the talent are they not dialing up blitzes. There was next to no pressure on Sayin the entire game. Poor discipline has proved to be a year over year issue as well with presnap penalties. Kids played hard, but they sure werent ready.

After leaning on outside zone in 2024, Texas wants to see 2025's go-to running game concept surface in training camp
I also think Archs mobilty will loosen up the backers because of his ability to press the edges. With that being said I hope that isnt a need very often, but it will make play action and fakes a little bit more sellable.

CJ Baxter may need a lot more time....
I just hope he gets fully healthy and back to full go, not just for the teams sake but also for Baxters as a person and player long term potential.

After leaning on outside zone in 2024, Texas wants to see 2025's go-to running game concept surface in training camp
I hope for 3rd down and redzone sake they are able to do both. There needs to be a balance inside and outside, power and zone. Just my 2 cents.

2023 vs. 2025 Texas Defense
If the Texas defense is as position flexible as advertised they will be in great shape. Corners flexing to safety or nickel, safety flexing to LB spots, LB flexing to DE, DE spinning inside to DL or outside Backer. Combine that with the talent to pressure the QB from multiple spots on any given play. The biggest question for me is will PK allow his playmakers more opportunities to get after the QB. IMO Texas needs to be more aggressive with blitz packages especially the first 1/4 of the season so the secondary with all the new guys can get settled. Loosing Baron and Makuba will be a huge hole to fill. They have the talent but how long will it take for them to gel? Cant wait for the season to start. Hook Em!!
