NCAA rules on Brendan Sorsby per ESPN
Tech seems to have principles only when it doesn’t cost them anything. They just voted for tough rules against gambling by players in November. Fast forward 6 months and those principles are gone because it could cost them a player. https://www.si.com/college-football/brendan-sorsby-case-challenges-ncaa-gambling-rules-texas-tech-once-backed#:~:text=That's more information than the,has admitted to doing so.

I’m sure you will hit this at the SEC media days, but the governance issue of College Football, the CSC rejection of many “NIL” deals, and the legislation in Washington is starting to bubble up.

Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby - oh boy!!!
I don’t see how he plays for Tech with the Iowa State precedent.

Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby - oh boy!!!
The supplemental draft might be an option.

Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby - oh boy!!!
I’m sure there is some sort of morals/suspension clause.

Texas has the hardest schedule in the country according to Bill Connelly
I think an interesting question is how many teams on our schedule have the capability of beating us. I think that number is 5. We won’t lose that many of course, but I think it does explain why our win total is only 9.5.

OU LBer gets judge’s ruling
To be fair, I never thought his small lacrosse career should have counted as a year of playing college sports.

Cody Campbell op-ed
This is 100% a ploy to allow Texas Tech get the same media payout as Alabama, when Alabama generates 4 times the viewership. And if the media payout is going to be equal for every school then why should football and basketball be the main recipients of revenue sharing? I’m sure that isn’t something Campbell wants to change. The justification now is because they generate the media revenue. Well…. Don’t the conferences that generate the most in media revenue deserve more of the pie?

Jim Schlossnagle on Jonah Williams' shoulder surgery, spring plans and two-sport future
Some of y’all are overestimating the floor if he were to choose baseball. Unless you’re a top 10 pick you have about a 15% chance of having a 3-year plus career even if you make it into the first round. His floor in baseball is probably his signing bonus. In football it’s probably $10-15m. With his talent baseball is the bigger gamble.

Are we all underrating the Bo Masoce portal pick up?
Let’s see how much playing time he gets. He has a great chance to be in the top 4 rotation and maybe he wins a starting job. That room is talented. I think Phillips is the only sure starter.

JD Pickell on next 3 years
I think if he was confident Sark stays after next year we would be higher.

I hope we get Seaton, but I wonder if he goes somewhere else that he knows he will start at LT for similar money.

Why this is a dangerous new era for a college football program
Great topic. Does J.T. Sanders start and breakout in 2023? I bet the answer is likely not.

Men’s Hoops: Texas vs. No. 13 Alabama game thread
If you make Alabama play basketball, they struggle. Let them run and they can overwhelm you.

Portal of Possibilities
Our Florida players are doomed. Are we ever going to have one make a dent here?

OTF Family Appreciation post from Rod B
Pretty impressive to knock out one of your New Year’s resolutions so early in the year. You’ve already participated more this year than last year. Mission Accomplished!

Couple of notes on Jonah Williams (Friday 6:55am CST)
Do we know if he’s practicing and if so, is he still limited?

Heze Kent
Looks like we came in 4th, but I think he eventually will make a really athletic OT.

I don’t think any school has a better broom closet than Auburn.

Way to early OU talk
This will not be popular, but OU isn’t going anywhere. They have been a better program than us since the ‘50’s. That’s a long freaking time. They almost certainly didn’t hire the right coach, but their obsession with being elite is a hell of a lot more consistent than us. Oklahoma doesn’t have a lot of great talent but it’s a lot better than Nebraska, and they are close to DFW. In 5 years I expect them to be very good.

Sean Miller's recruiting at Texas has begun (Monday 11am CST)
I would think Devon Pryor would be a priority.
