Couple of notes on Jonah Williams

First, was told Thursday he is up to 217 pounds. And that doesn't mean anything for his position. Prior to re-injuring his hammy, he was one of the fastest testers on the team at 210+ pounds. He will return to the field at safety for Texas.

Second, prior to the re-injuring of the hammy, he was going to compete at punt and kick off return.

Third, he came to Texas with football in mind and nothing has changed in that regard. It's all about getting back to 100%, and not pushing it to get back this time. He took a week off after baseball concluded and went right back into football conditioning. In retrospect, probably should have given it 2-3 weeks. But that is an athlete trying to get ready to be on the field for football season. Lesson learned.

Thoughts on his baseball future?  Does he redshirt this year and dedicate his time solely to football next year?  Might be the smart play if football is the priority.

Didn't hear anything on that Thursday

I just hope the guy doesn’t end up like Jalon Catalon. Both played with reckless abandonment but catalon could never stay healthy. Hopefully it’s a different story with Williams

He's been adding weight by watching OTF. He has oatmeal cream pies watching coffee and football each morning.

If he’s going to have habitual hammy issues and switching between sports and not having enough rest time is going to be an issue he’s going to have to choose a sport imo.

With the state of college sports today I don’t think it’s smart to have a two sport athlete on your team.

And corn dogs with mayo while watching longhorn livestream at night.

He was already behind missing spring ball and now he’s WAAAY behind missing most of fall camp. I think it’s going to be time to pick a sport sooner rather than later.

Schloss is bringing in some really good players, so idk where they will put Island Boi but if he’s going to be a backup in baseball he would probably need to concentrate on football.  Or Hey whichever ones paying him the most 😃😃

Our outfield is extremely thin for next season especially after losing two portal commits to the draft. Jonah would be penciled in to start in CF. He would be a lock there if not for football.

At some point Sark will need to have a serious conversation with him about his future. There’s too much safety talent in the pipeline putting in the effort year-round for Jonah to assume he can take the winter and spring off for baseball. Doesn’t matter how talented he is—he needs to dedicate himself to his craft if he wants to make the kind of impact on this team that we all know he can.

thanks GH for the update.  seems too talented to be here for more than 3 years.  hopefully, he gets to show out sooner rather than later.

Jonah may want to play each a couple of years to help him decide which he likes the best and/or which will give him the best chance of having a lengthy professional career.

Missing first two spring footballs and freshman year heavy price to pay if baseball is the hobby. No gimmes in life so if you want something sometimes you have to sacrifice something else to realize ur dream. Unless ur Bo Jackson, of course!
