We are already up to 12 teams which is plenty to determine a NC. Expanding to 14 (2 teams with a bye) or 16 teams is within reason since it is only adding 2 or 4 teams.

Adding 12 or 16 teams is unnecessary and creates more chances for blowouts and uncompetitive matchups. The 24th or 28th best team doesn't deserve a shot at an elite team where injuries can occur. The regular season games would mean even less for elite teams since 8 or 9 wins could be enough to make the CFP in a 24 or 28 team CFP.

Also I hate excessive autobids, especially for ACC and Big 12. An autobid for a champ from a good conference is by and large a good thing. Many autobids would increase the likelihood a less deserving team gets in over a more deserving and better team.

Just to get this out of the way now, NO Ohio State fan supports this. No B1G fan supports this

Nah, Pettiti is a TV guy. It’s all about what will make the most money for him. The B1G isn’t having any trouble winning in this era.

Max should be 14. Just follow the NFL. Thats what it’s becoming anyway.

My hope is that this is somehow a negotiation tactic to get the SEC to come to the table regarding the 4-4-2-2-1-1 model.

 

16 is the correct number as it eliminates the bye week games which failed miserably last year.   1st round home games for the Top 8 seeds

The way the season falls, EVERYBODY in the playoffs gets a bye week (effectively) anyway.   This isn't the NFL.

 

Well, 8 would have been best, but that ship has sailed.

 

 

How about this: 

1) 2 game preseason, records don't count, schedule vs historic rival or  regional teams incl fcs, basically a scrimmage and rev generator

2) 32-48 team super league, world cup style groupings of 8. Promotion/relegation optional to the rest of D1 FBS

3) top 16 advance to playoffs in mid Nov. Mirror playoffs for non superleague. Bowl games for rest - A&M Texas Bowl dreams vs B12 live on.

4) National championship Jan 1-10 timeframe, done before spring enrollment

5) 2 portal windows: Dec and May

6) 1 signing day, Dec 1

7) 1-2 revenue spring games allowed vs other schools

Truths:

1.  No buys should be allowed in the CFP.  Make it a level playing field.

2.  Therefore, the number of teams should be a multiple of 2. That is 2-4-8-16 for the math impaired.

3.  If you have any more than 8 teams, you will include cupcakes.

4.  More than 16 teams is idiotic.
