NBA assistant (Royal Ivey)

Although it's not likely , could Texas go big enough to hire Jay Wright if he wanted to come?

While Jay Wright may not have a buyout he will come with a huge price tag likely in the $10 million per season range plus a HUGE NIL commitment.

Last first four team to make Final Four was VCU.

Didn't UCLA do it?

UCLA was an 11 seed but not in a play in game.

Rumors are NIL is the reason he quit in the first place.  But watch out.  If RT catches fire in the tourney, all this new HC talk will be put on hold for at least another year.

.... a 2.5 pt dog in the play-in game of a field of SIXTY FOUR teams is nothing to celebrate.

In 2021 UCLA was an 11 seed and played Michigan State in the First Four play-in game on their way to the Final Four, before losing to Gonzaga by 3 pts.

Michigan St has one of the best coaches in the sports history who is known for overachieving teams seed better than any other coach.

Believe LSU got there as an eleven seed.

Before the tournament expanded beyond 64 teams, so no play in game.  That LSU team came to Austin and beat Weltlich's best team here by 9.

Ever hear the story about Knight's last championship team trailing LSU late in the Midwest final in 1987?

There is a zero point zero chance that Jay Wright is coming back to college basketball.

Guy needs to have a sign on. Stop calling me!

His contact with the networks includes bonuses for every time he's mentioned in a coaching search to reward him for the extra eyeballs those rumors bring.

Can I interest anyone in VCU to the Final Four again this year? I like their path.

Not me.  First up is a BYU team that had a 9 game winning streak before losing to Houston in the Big 12 tournament.  Those 9 wins included wins at Arizona, at ISU, and neutral against ISU as well as a 34 point beatdown of Kansas.

But back to the buyout issue, rising assistants and brilliant mid-major coaches don't have big buyouts.

You're right.  I'm wrong.  I saw the game being played on Thursday and assumed it was a round one instead of a playoff game.  Odd that they had second round games on Monay that year.

Retired or NBA coach

But Texas is also willing to pay a buyout to a certain point (not a 10 mill+ buyout)

You mentioned 4/5 M a few days ago for buyout 👀

Numbers keep going up. CDC is ready to cook
