Wonder who Tech would target?

Good Q ... Drake coach would likely be on a list for them. Will Wade is trying to get any high-major job right now (heard SEC will block him from any job in the conference)

I know he's not the biggest name for Texas fans but I think Drake coach would be a good hire for Texas. But I'm not sure if CDC looks at his DII resume as a fit but you have to love what you see there as potential coach for the next 20 years at Texas if he performs like his resume says.

From a college coaching buddy … chatter

Scott Drew is going to Indiana

McCaslin leaves Tech for Baylor

Wow Drew? He’ll turn them around for sure. Tech supports basketball a lot more than Texas does, but all coaches see it as a temporary spot. That would be a heck of an opportunity for McCaslin

Most would. I just see him turning Texas down and Tech fans reacting with glee. Would absolutely love to be wrong though.

Well that knocks Wade out of the picture.

He would be out even if SEC allowed him back into the conference by our compliance department.

@Gerry Hamilton Drew to IU and Grant to Baylor makes a lot of sense. That scenario is easy to see coming, almost happened last year with Kentucky. IU makes more sense for him than Kentucky did.

Grant's climb from awful, snail pace offense to being sixth in the NCAA in PPP this year is remarkable. Toppin has helped certainly, but have eben very impressed by his improvement tempo wise.

I seriously doubt the SEC would hold Wade to any punishment beyond that imposed by the NCAA.  The SEC didn't punish Wade beyond what LSU did at the time the story broke, then it did nothing except let the NCAA take care of it.

So the only issues with Wade are the show cause order and the hiring school's willingness to go that route.

If New Mexico continues as it has this year, then someone will hire Richard Pitino away from the Lobos.

Tyler, I'd still like to hear your assessment of him.  Fast tempo every year at UNM, but rarely tried to play at a fast speed while at Minnesota.

SEC has blacklisted coaches before

For something that is now allowed? That would be an interesting question.

He's never recruited high D-I. I'd be shocked if Texas went for that.

Oh I agree. This is one I don’t see happening.

He is recruiting mid major D-I for the first time this year, unless the late spring scramble in 2024 counts.  Drake received no commits in the fall.  It managed last spring  to pick up only one three star but outside top 300 hs recruit, one unrated hs recruit, and one unrated juco according to 247sports.  Manyawu has been a pretty good pick-up from the portal, and Combs has contributed, but Drake is doing nearly everything this year with McCollum's D-II bunch, and most of them go away after this season.

So this is Indiana football. They're fine for now.

He's shown that he's a very good coach but he's a long way from being ready for the SEC.

Yeah, like Hugh Freeze.

Oh, wait.  He's the head coach at Auburn now.

I, for one, will be overjoyed to have Scott Drew out of Texas.

Indiana is targeting him.
