Kind of curious myself, as it does seem (fortunately or unfortunately) that Coach Terry has coached himself out of a job. I'm a complete noob when it comes to Basketball, so I'm happy to hear from some of our more knowledgeable people here. 

Sean Miller has been mentioned without changing the NIL or salary. If you are going to six to seven million and an increased NIL? Then you can really get a flash hire. Would love to see Texas actually do that. Saying it is one thing, doing it is another. Even if Texas had no NIL, it should still have a team that doesn’t get blown out by South Carolina. You can still have a team that doesn’t look lifeless against Georgia at home, knowing you need to win.

If CDC can convince a flash hire coach to take a pay cut and the current NIL, and have them consistently finish in the top half of the SEC, they will build a statue of him.

Going off what Gerry said. It’s roughly twenty four million to get Oats, when you include everything he would want. That’s before you buy Terry out and his assistants. That amount of money has never been spent on a basketball coach in the history of the school. Gerry did say he will believe it when he sees it. Kind of where I am at as well. There is a potential domino effect that might happen. Indiana wants Scott Drew, Baylor will get a really good coach, they have a history of doing that, so it’s probably Tech’s coach they get. Say what you will about Texas Tech, but they have a big money booster spending freely in football and basketball right now. They will get a good coach. So the possibility of losing out on a good coach who will take the budgeted Texas job is exists. CDC is paid to figure all this out. My hope is he can convince the powers that be to spend heavily.

CDC already knows that. There’s a lot of reasons he is widely regarded as the best AD in the country. I am going to support whoever it is. All coaches deserve that considering the job they take is basically an all day everyday job. I do that with all sports at Texas.

That appears to be correct. Details were obtained by an Iowa TV station. That's one year of his new salary.

From what I say, he's getting less than Coach Terry for his salary. If you don't me asking (because you're one of the knowledgeable guys here about Basketball), what makes Coach Otzelberger a good candidate?

About to be four years, and four NCAA Tournaments at Iowa State ... two Sweet 16's in first three years. Took over a dreadful situation and flipped it very quick.

Plays a quality style ... 72 possessions per game ... average 80 PPG on season in a very tough league. Very good transition offensive coach. Very good spacing and feel for the modern offensive game

Has proven to be a very solid talent evaluator and roster developer 

His Iowa State team has had some injury adversity this season, and he's powered through it well. 

ISU has impressed me under Coach O.  ISU is a basketball friendly place.  Great home arena crowds. 

But Texas has shown potential [at least, when winning] with the Moody and the student seating that could be attractive to Otzelberger.

I think CDC will do as well as he can with what Texas can offer - but it does come down to what CAN and WILL Texas offer [for coaches plus NIL]?  I hope it is an attractive package that frees CDC to have excellent options. 

There are coaches with running styles that would tend to fill the Moody, and they would always be my personal preference as a live viewer in the arena.  Coach Otz is one of them.  Will Wade is another.  I accept Bierce's review of Pitino's son although I have never seen his team play.  There are several other Usual Suspects, but for my taste, stay away from coaches who rely first on defensive bangers to the detriment of offensive speed, even if they are proven winners with it.

And while I think Royal Ivey is going to stay in the NBA, we know from his Olympic team that he coaches a fast brand of ball and can develop team structure from raw kids.  Just sayin...

He’s an extremely knowledgeable. He already has an ego. It’s going to grow now.  lol
