I bought this Jason Giambi game-used base card in high school. I was able to get on a recent card-only autograph signing he did through his agent for $20.

I'm proud of myself for hanging onto this card for more than 20 years!

Just picked this up last month to complete my Nolan Ryan card collection from every year and over 170 different cards.

I’m always trying to find UT softball cards. Being in LA makes it pretty tough and they definitely don’t sale the blaster boxes like that here.

Vintage stuff is the best man, my dad and I collect vintage solely and they’re just so superior to the modern cards.

This. Vintage is costly because nobody knew what they would be worth years later which made them rare. And there was a time the rookie card was the most valuable card. Card companies intentionally make cards rare to drive up the price now. You can get a rookie card, but an insert three years later cost more because the quantity is intentionally low.

If you do crack it you should send it to Nolan with his fee to get it signed first. I think he raised his fee to the foundation recently but would look awesome with a signature

I've thought about it, but sending it through the mail is too risky for that card.

My brother had this card but he use to play baseball on the floor with the cards and basically mutilated the card. Same brother that played with a signed Ted Williams hall of fame glove in little league until signature wore off.

What year do you consider the end of vintage age cards?

I think it's anything up to '80 because Donruss and Fleer started producing baseball cards that year and led into the junk wax era.

The Rickey Henderson rookie, to me, is the last great vintage baseball card.

Should I tell you of the story of my father (who was saving a 1st edition Batman comic book) he came home from the army and found out his mother threw it away.  Those 1st editions are currently worth 1.7 million

I have generally considered 1970 to be my cutoff date, since I don’t collect baseball past that, but an argument could be made for mid 80’s. I would think 83-84 is cut off. Can’t be ‘89 because that’s junk wax. I say that while one of my favorite cards is the UD Griffey rookie.

Technically Griff jr rookie card and back is now vintage. They do call that era the junk era too though. For me it’s 1980 and back.

The Ricky Henderson was the last year of truly vintage cards but junk wax was more 1987 to 1993. There are some great cards from 80 to 86 starting with Ripken 82 traded and the fleer update 84 rookies of Clemens and Puckett.  You also had iconic cards in 84 Donruss  Mattingly and 86 Donruss Canseco.  

Is this a fine place to sell cards? I’m in the process of moving and trying to lighten the load, so my card collection has to go. Nothing major but have some Texas players like Collin Johnson, Duvernay, Brandon Jones. Assortment of rookie cards (Texas jersey) and some autos. Would rather sell them to someone here than take them to a card shop.

The 84 Donruss is one the nicest cards made imo
