I double checked with a source just to be 100% sure…. Coach Pierce can be with them during the week, just not the first game tomorrow in Norman!

Sounds like he will even ride the bus with the team to the stadium, but just can't be involved in game activities tonight.

Meant to use this on my baseball segment of Coffee and Football and I forgot, but here's the latest projection from D1Baseball.com:

And, as I said on C&F this morning... this is a big weekend for a number of reasons:

1. Texas tied for third in the Big 12 and is only three games behind.

2. OU is first in the Big 12.

3. Texas RPI is No. 66 at the moment. They need to improve that. This weekend will allow for that to happen as OU is No. 18 in RPI. Obviously this team is aware of that.

4. OU also has a chance to host this postseason, so a series win for them would be huge here too.

Same starting rotation this weekend as last weekend:

Friday - Max Grubbs (3.61)
Saturday -  Ace Whitehead (3.32)
Sunday - LBJ (5.03)

Another weekend, another Friday night stinker.  Let's see if Pierce can keep pulling conference series out of his ass.

They followed up one of their cleanest games of the season (last Tuesday) with their ugliest game of the season. Those 5 errors doesn’t include a wild pitch by Grubbs that ended up scoring a run. Not knocking Grubbs he was solid on the mound but the defense was atrocious. 

I’ve watched A LOT of college baseball today.

First, such an odd year in college baseball. Craziest year I remember in quite some time  

Second, Texas A&M is so damn good offensively. They were down 7-0 to No. 20 Georgia and now it’s 9-9. Only one home loss. They’re a hell of a lot of fun to watch and they truly are a phenomenal team this year. Someone with elite pitching can take them down, however. 

Arkansas might be the most well balanced team in the nation, however. They have elite pitching and big bats. 

The matchup between those two in a few weeks is going to be awesome.

 

Some other thoughts…

Clemson lost today but I truly believe their coach could do some phenomenal things here. 

Same for Tennessee. They are just well balanced and play sound baseball. I’m not so sure he wouldn’t be my number one guy to go after. 

Alabama is going to be a forced to be reckoned with in a couple of years if they hang on to their coach.

Pitching is atrocious. As usual. Consistently bad. Have 12 on the board through 7 and can easily choke it away.

Right, six two run homers and it's still a nail biter. This is the worst college level pitching I have ever seen Texas put on the field in one season.

Awesome picture. Any chance Texas goes to Boehm again? I know he threw earlier but Texas has no one. I think he threw under 30 pitches.

Why aren’t they calling the game?

That’s a good question. I don’t know what to expect with this staff so your guess is as good as mine.
