Offense looks EXPLOSIVE

Henry is Ricky Henderson, if she gets on first she's going to touch home. That's the difference so far, and I know it's early between Texas and oklahoma. Texas can kill you singles and doubles because they have a lot of speed. If oklahoma isn't knocking the ball over the fence they're not going to score much.

I know Oklahoma is Oklahoma, but they lost to Arizona last night and their pitching coach went on indefinite leave the day before opening day. I know it’s one weekend and they’ll bounce back, but Oklahoma has some questions this year.

Texas being Texas and having enough donors to sprinkle money around all sports, most schools can really only focus on about two major sports. Where as Texas is doing great in pretty much everything from football to golf and why they are in the running or winning the Director's Cup year in year out. That brings another problem for oklahoma, where do they wanna invest? The powerhouse softball program or catch-up to the major players in college football.

Obviously that was only their second game of this season, but I wonder if the effects of NIL and rev share are starting to catch up with OU’s softball program?  The two teams that knocked them out of last year’s tourney are two of the few programs that can outspend them and still have plenty of money to spend on other sports.  While I doubt their softball will fall off a cliff as long as their coach is there, the days of them stacking national championships are probably over.

Thats why Texas beating them on their way to winning a natty was huge not just for Mike White and the softball program but the sport of college softball in general.  Look at what happened to UConn’s WBB program after Vic and Mississippi State beat them in the Final Four on that buzzer beater.  Took them almost a decade to win another while South Carolina, Baylor, Notre Dame, Stanford, LSU, etc. all took off.

Momentum is a real for programs in college athletics.  Texas breaking through and winning that natty last year makes me much more confident they can win a few more before Mike White calls it quits.

You definitely understand how a perceived fall off, be it real or imagined can kill a program and lift up someone else. See Alabama football for results 😂
