Sorry if I missed that, are you saying that you heard this happened? That he didn’t inform anyone until he was no show for the plane take off?!  That’s nuts if true. I sure hope that wasn’t the story here, I thought he was a solid player for us but pulling stunts like this changes things for the public perception and future employers even

Texas and Wiser probably decided to go different directions prior to today and made it public today. Regardless wish Wisner success on and off the field. It’s a business for all parties.

I'll let @Bobby Burton clarify if I'm misrepresenting what he said on OTF this morning, but that's my understanding of how this went down.

Wisner IMO is making a bad choice. Should have come back as a #2 and spent the rest of his life as a UT legend like Rod B, Fozzy Whitaker, Whittington, Roschon, etc.

I wish Wisner finished his career as a longhorn but I think it’s too early to say he made a bad choice. Let’s see where he lands and how much he gets. He could also go into the draft and if he doesn’t find what he is looking for in the portal. 
 

I also think rb1 vs rb2 is overrated in the SEC. You need multiple capable rbs to get thru the schedule. It’s going to be tough to get 2 starter level running backs out of the portal so I hope 1-2 of the young backs step up.

Only reason to hit the portal, is because Texas wouldn't match the 1 million he wanted and the NFL wasn't telling him what he wanted to hear. 

Sucks to lose him, but he's not an elite RB. Wish him all the best and hope he lands on his feet somewhere.

There's no way you could justify giving Wisner $1M, if the bar is set there then what would an actual 5* stud command?

Wisner went from a texas legend to a “me” guy for me with his actions today. 1 million for a specialty back that can’t stay healthy is a hard pass. 

Wisner’s agent finished law school in ‘23? Awful decision from the family to let it get here even acknowledging not everyone can work with Mulugheta types.

Really now? You can't tell the difference between a real #1 RB and a guy like Wisner that warrants 10-15 carries per game?

Wisner wanted "one of the best RBs in college football" money when he is actually a below average SEC starter.

In 2024 he was 3rd in the SEC in rushing with 1k yards avgeraging 4.7 ypc. His numbers were down this year partly due to injury and the oline. 

I’m not arguing whether or not he is worth 1 mil as I don’t know what the going rate is for a rb with his production. I trust the coaches decision and I wish him the best. I do think 2 starter level backs are needed from the portal for next season to get through a tough schedule. I also think it’s going to be difficult to get 2 of that caliber.
