While the focus for many fans rightly remains on the rest of the Longhorns’ regular season, behind the scenes is a different story for much of the Texas staff. Steve Sarkisian and his personnel team are prepping diligently for next spring and the 2026 season from a roster construction standpoint. Texas Prioritizing Recovery During Bye Week *** Texas is just about through with their bye week's worth of practice. And I should use the term practice very loosely. For most of the week, Texas utilized walk-throughs to allow for the team to recharge their batteries after five consecutive weeks of play and hours of travel in between. There was a focus on cleaning up the mental side of the game, especially on the back end of the secondary. But all in all, not much physical strain was put on the Longhorns. The Longhorns made two new scholarship offers yesterday. North Forney athlete Legend Bey, who has been committed to Tennessee since the summer, was offered by receivers coach Chris Jackson and head coach Steve Sarkisian yesterday. Bey plays quarterback in high school but with 10.6-second 100-meter speed, he likely plays wide receiver in college. He is one of the state’s most electric players. Texas did not offer earlier in the process because Bey initially wanted to play quarterback. But things appear to have changed. Bey recently returned from a visit to Ohio State. Camden Heide didn't play in Texas' 97-60 win over Lafayette on Saturday. After coaching the Longhorns to his first win in the 2025-26 home opener at Moody Center, Sean Miller said Heide is dealing with "a shoulder situation that we're monitoring." "We don't think it's anything that will keep him out for any length of time," Miller said. "We're optimistic that he could return this coming week and, potentially, the next game. Certainly, we would love to have him available." While several players went home over the long weekend before returning yesterday afternoon, Texas receiver Ryan Wingo stayed in Austin to receive ongoing treatment for the thumb he dislocated against Vanderbilt. Wingo had made major progress during last week but he wanted to stay back in Austin to keep receiving treatment to make sure he’s as close to 100-percent as possible.
