Yesterday the news broke that Texas Baseball Associate Head Coach Nolan Cain would be leaving for Texas A&M, where he is expected to take the same role. So why did it happen? Over the weekend it was announced that Stanford Softball ace pitcher NiJaree Canady would be entering the transfer portal. Texas fans immediately wanted to know if the Longhorns would be interested and for good reason. This past season for the Cardinal, Canady posted a 0.73 ERA and 337 strikeouts with only 44 walks. Instead of Colorado offensive lineman Jordan Seaton visiting the Longhorns, it was Wake Forest offensive lineman Melvin Siani who signed with the Longhorns.
