Last night the Longhorns held a scrimmage before starting their Easter break and I checked with some sources to see how everything has gone up to this point.. Generally speaking, I'm told that the defense is shining bright, while the offense is a work in progress. 2027 Pflugerville Weiss WR Tre Moore Update I made the quick drive over to Pflugerville to catch up with one of the top 2027 playmakers in the area – WR Tre Moore. On the cuff, Moore is a heck of an athlete, standing 6-foot-3-inches. Moore also grew into his body very well over the last year since I saw him last spring. It is funny looking back, Moore's first D1 offer came from Oregon (look away @Joe Zura) and now he is ranked as a top-20 player in the state of Texas and No. 120 nationally per the composite. There is some commentary out there that Texas decided against a later start time against Ohio State. That has some truth to it. However, I’m told that it was not a later start time on Saturday that was actually proffered but an entirely different game day, asking the Longhorns to play on Sunday rather than Saturday. We expected Vodney Cleveland, the defensive tackle from Birmingham, to announce for the Longhorns on Saturday. He left Austin a week ago Sunday knowing that he would eventually pledge to Texas. Texas' 3rd Down Pass Rush Taking the Next Step When you have a top-5 defense in the country, not often do you find many areas of true weakness. In fact, many parts of your defense would be considered strengths. Mini update on Derrek Cooper Texas commit and OTF 5-star running back Derrek Cooper attended the Notre Dame at Miami game Sunday, as expected. In talking to a source close to the recruitment, Cooper remains as solid to Texas as you can be in today’s day and age of recruiting. Zion Williams post LSU update Lufkin (Texas) High 4-star defensive lineman Zion Williams went into last weekend's official visit to LSU with the Tigers No. 1 and Texas No. 2. The visit last weekend only strengthened the Tigers chances with the 6-4.5, 325 pounder, as one would expect. Williams remains scheduled to make an official visit to Texas June 21-23.
