Nobody in Austin is surprised Dakorien Moore de-committed from LSU. For us at OTF, it was a matter of when. After Moore and family members visited earlier in the spring, I had it at 51% for Texas. I now have it at 65% for Texas. A lot of pull on the Texas side, and confidence in Austin remains high. The final official visit weekend of the month of June will see upwards of 20 prospects arrive on campus for a weekend stay at The University of Texas in the next 24 hours. So far this month, Texas has earned one commitment based off of the official visits, with a handful awaiting to go public. I know I have been vocal about the month of June being the match that ignites a hot run into the dead period and I believe that to still be the case. It was noted loosely the last day or so, but wanted to make it a full post. I have it on good authority WR Emmett Mosley V is back on the practice field for the Longhorns. Mosley is expected to be a participant in all routes on air and a limited participant in 1v1’s and team drills. Arch Manning will get the final week of spring ball to throw to Mosley, Ryan Wingo and Cam Coleman on the same offense. Let's get the obvious injury situation out of the way. I am told quarterback Quinn Ewers is expected to make his return against Oklahoma. I'm also told that Ewers could have gone against the Bulldogs had the QB situation been dire. I know the tweet of ESPN's Pete Thamel used the term "70 percent", but Ewers thought he could go against Mississippi State if called upon. ** Overall, the Longhorns escaped the Mississippi State contest relatively healthy. A couple of nuggets on this fine Tuesday morning. *** I exchanged messages with some folks this morning in regards to 2025 Folsom DL Josiah Sharma. OTF's Gerry Hamilton has done a great job with this recruitment. The big concern coming into the weekend was Alabama being able to use its preexisting relationship with Sharma to get the edge over the efforts Texas has been working on the last six months. Of course, Sharma was committed to Washington when DeBoer and his staff were still at UDub. Since the visit, the word I have received is more favorable to the Longhorns than it has been for Alabama. Initial thoughts: - The RB room is completely revamped. The familiar faces of Tre Wisner and CJ Baxter are gone. The additions of Hollywood Smothers, Raleek Brown and Derrek Cooper are evident, each bringing a slightly different skill set than the other. It's an increase in overall speed and general explosiveness. There is no doubt in my mind that the difference between this year and last year is night and day. Yesterday, I spoke with the radio play-by-play Voice of the Michigan Wolverines, Doug Karsch, for an interview that we will post on OTF later today. Karsch had a lot of interesting things to say overall, but one was a real eye opener. He compared the Michigan defensive front to the old Miami defensive fronts of the 90s. And when he said front, he didn't just mean the DLs but also the LBs. He said the Wolverines keep turning out elite player after elite player. The Big 12, the ACC and others can bellyache all they want about the SEC and Big 10 pushing them around at the negotiating table when it comes to number of playoff spots and other aspects of the future of college football. But last night was a prime example of exactly why the two premier conferences feel justified in doing so. The SEC finished with 15 picks in the first round of the NFL draft. The Big 10 had 11.
