Cedar Hill defensive lineman Jalen Brewster, one of the state's top prospects, visited Texas a couple of weekends ago despite being committed to Texas Tech at the time. He also visited Florida and LSU. It's expected that Brewster will eventually de-commit from Texas Tech sometime this summer, with LSU being the new front-runner for his services. Texas will continue to monitor and keep in touch with Brewster because they like him that much. But LSU appears to be the winner at this time. Florida is thought to be out of the race entirely.

Jalen Lott is explosive & S/DB on Texas’ radar Frisco, Texas - OnTexasFootball made a couple of school stops Tuesday in the DFW area. This morning, we give a rundown of one of the stops that includes at least one top target in the 2026 class. Jalen Lott, WR/CB - 2026 The OnTexasFootball 4-star++ junior was ultra impressive in practice Tuesday. Lott, 5-11 and 172 pounds, showed initial explosive movement skills, acceleration and long speed on several occasions in a 1.5 hour practice. The son of former Texas Longhorns standouts (father James Lott in Hall of Honor) could play WR or CB at the next level, and will likely factor in the return game. He p…

Jalen Lott: The latest Oregon verbal and 4-star++ wide receiver Jalen Lott (Frisco, Texas/Panther Creek) was back on campus at Texas over the weekend with his mom and dad. The visit wasn't about being at Texas for a game day, or game atmosphere or anything that is key in many recruiting visits. Of all the players Texas is recruiting in the 2026 cycle, Jalen Lott has been on campus and attended games in DKR more than any - and by a good margin. This was all about talking to Steve Sarkisian and staff. The communication never stopped since Lott picked Oregon over Texas. It's been consistent since about a week after the July 8 commitment. This rec…

I’m told that Javorskie Lane Jr, son of former Texas A&M standout Javorskie Lane, is transferring to Grapevine High School from OD Wyatt. Yall have asked about him numerous times in the past. I still don’t expect Texas to recruit him at this time. No sense in putting all your eggs in a basket that is 99.9% draft bound.

I traded messages briefly with San Jose State portal CB Jay’Vion Cole following his official visit to Texas this week. When asked how the visit went this weekend, Cole had a short, yet to the point answer: ”Amazing.” Cole was expected to visit Auburn next week for an official visit, however he tells me he is unsure of that visit will still occur. John Meredith III Update Wanted to bring the OTF community the latest on 5-star cornerback John Meredith III (Fort Worth/North Crowley) following his visit to Texas late last week. OTF believes Texas is the team to beat. Period. Does that mean it's a for sure for the Longhorns? Not in the NIL era. What OTF also believes is Texas leads Alabama. Those are the top two. Everyone else is distant third and fourth. The near 6-foot-3, 178-pound lock down corner will make his official visit to Alabama the last weekend in May, with Texas the following weekend. Also on the possible OV schedule is Texas A&M June 12-14 and Ohio State June 19-21. …

EDIT 10:49 AM CT — Meredith has been ruled ineligible to play at North Crowley this fall and will only have varsity eligibility if he transfers back to Euless Trinity *** Meredith was ruled ineligible due to moving for athletic reasons after transferring from Euless Trinity to North Crowley earlier this offseason. He has since filed an appeal and will hear if he won tomorrow morning. 4-star Georgia QB commit Colton Nussmeier, who transferred to Denton Ryan from Flower Mound Marcus, also has a ruling scheduled for tomorrow. Nussmeier is going through the same process as Meredith and filed an appeal after being ruled ineligible due to moving for athletic…

Jonah Williams news from Thursday night OnTexasFootball went out to Baytown Thursday night for the Galveston Ball vs. Baytown Sterling game. Ball High won the game 45-0, and Williams did his thing. He scored on a 70+ yard play, had a fumble recovery, made a diving catch on a long post route and was in on several tackles. But the news from the trip to see Williams was more who OTF spent time talking with. 1. Williams and family will be in Austin Saturday for the Mississippi State game. 2. He remains scheduled to make his OV to Texas for the Georgia game. 3. Per a family member, Williams still plans to graduate in December. And he plans to go th…

Apparently an outlet has recently reported that Texas defensive back Jonah Williams was hurt in practice. I've checked with a couple of sources on this and I'm told that Williams is practicing. He did suffer a minor setback last week, but it was not serious. Texas was off yesterday, but he's been a full participant in practice. Jonah is also expected to try and balance both football and baseball this spring. He most likely won't be a full participant in spring football, however.

Jordan Coleman Taking Advantage of Time with 1st Team Offense *** AUSTIN – Outside of the quarterback, there aren’t many positions on the football field with as immediate impact on a given play than left tackle. The Longhorns are in the midst of some of the best left tackle play that I have seen in my time watching Texas Football. From three years of 1st rounder Kelvin Banks, to now entering 2026 with second year starter Trevor Goosby, who many draft experts believe could go as the first tackle in the 2027 NFL Draft. Arch Manning’s blind side protection is in good hands with Goosby. Yet, while the franchise left tackle is currently easing back into ful…

Colorado offensive tackle Jordan Seaton announced his intent to enter into the transfer portal about an hour ago. Seaton is not officially in the portal yet, so Texas, nor any other team, can have direct contact with him until then. Colorado has 2 business days before it must enter him into the portal. We’ve said all along Texas is going big game hunting in the portal this off-season. Seaton, an expected first rounder next year, is certainly that. National reports suggest that Texas and Oregon are expected to be primary competitors. Miami, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and LSU are expected to also throw their hat in the ring. Hook’Em! View full news s…

Josiah Vilmael: Friday decision The recruitment of speedy Fort Bend Travis defensive back Josiah Vilmael will come to an end Friday, per Vilmael. OnTexasFootball can report that Texas would accept a commitment from the 6-0.5, 175-pounder with 10.6 100 meter wheels. That does not mean the Longhorns will win out, however. Vilmael and Texas have been far apart from an NIL perspective, as of Wednesday. Even if Vilmael's NIL wants aren't met, Baylor, Arizona State or Arizona could come closer than Texas is willing to. Lamont Rogers, OT, Mesquite (Texas) Horn The 6-7, 290 pound athletic offensive tackle remains scheduled to announce July 6. Rogers had a FaceTime call with members of the Texas staff this afternoon. OTF continues to believe that Missouri and Texas are the most likely destinations, with Oklahoma and Texas A&M swinging. Where FSU is in the race is a bit of a mystery. Staying on the OL OnTexasFootball continues to believe that the Horns remain in a good position for Cedar Rapids (Ia.) John F. Kennedy 4-star OL Nick Brooks. Georgia and USC are the o…
