A quick note from Saturday's scrimmage. C Jake Majors was not a participant in the scrimmage this morning due to an ankle sprain. I was told Majors has not been active for much of the week leading up to the scrimmage and the staff opted to keep him sidelined for this morning's action. The Texas personnel department continued its recent run of pledges yesterday evening by adding Georgetown offensive lineman Kaden Scherer to the fold. Scherer is part of a recent trend for the Horns. Beginning in 2027, the committee proposes that teams can move to a 7-week spring/summer camp with a total of 21 practices. That is up from the 15 practices currently allowed. At the same time, the rules committee is reducing the number of practices prior to the season. I can confirm that Texas coach Steve Sarkisian has agreed to a contract extension with the Longhorns and is declining NFL interviews. First reported by Brett McMurphy. The recruitment of Lubbock Monterey standout Aaliyah Chavez continues to roll on with multiple schools anxiously awaiting a final decision from the nation's No. 1 overall player for 2025. Chavez is down to four schools: Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and South Carolina. She cut LSU from that list before January and just recently decided against UCLA as well.
