Former LSU DL Zion Williams Commits to Texas *** Texas continues momentum on Thursday morning! This time, it comes in the form of former LSU defensive lineman Zion Williams committing to the Texas Longhorns. The former Lufkin star entered the portal earlier in the week with a Do Not Contact designation to his portal entry and immediately appeared on campus in Austin. The Longhorns were one of the heavy contenders for Williams coming out of high school, though fell short due to the connection to Bo Davis from Williams' side. However, after just one year on campus in Baton Rouge, Texas ends up signing Williams to become a Longhorn. In 2025, Wil…

AUSTIN, Texas — Longhorns center Matas Vokietaitis is expected to return to Texas in 2026, OTF has learned. Draft Express' Jonathan Givony first reported the news. The 7-foot big man has opted to stay with the Longhorns after his play, particularly late in the season, had suitors chomping at the bit for the Lithuanian native to enter the transfer portal. Instead, Vokietaitis is staying put, which was his preference all along. Vokietaitis came to Texas last offseason after a standout freshman campaign at FAU, which earned him AAC Freshman of the Year honors. He developed throughout his first season on the Forty Acres, having his biggest impact in March. For the seaso…

Texas softball welcomed Texas Tech into the championship series with a five-run first inning, including a two-run homer by Katie Stewart who became the first player in World Series history to hit a homer in four straight games After the big inning, the Horns never looked back, defeating the Red Raiders 7-3 in the opening game. Texas ace Teagan Kavan went the distance giving up just three hits while managing an umpire’s inconsistent strike zone. Texas Tech did not start its ace Najaree Canady, opting instead to go with Kaitlyn Terry. The Red Raiders quickly turned to Canady, however. Terry never made it out of the first inning. Canady was replaced after an inning…

Finally, after all the way and talking, it is here. It is Cotton Bowl time! Texas and Ohio State for a spot in the National Championship. *** 1st Quarter *** Texas will start with the football after Ohio State won the toss and deferred. Ball at the 25 to start. What a freakish one-handed snag by Matthew Golden on 3rd down for a big game. That was huge to move the chains for the Longhorns. Lots of 12 personnel so far for Texas – 4 of the first 5 plays. It is a turnover on downs for the Longhorns on the opening possession. Texas did well to at least move the rock, but that is a drive that would have been huge to get points on early. I really…

If you’re wanting good news, stop here and press the back button on your browser. Do not go any further. As of tonight, I do not expect the following to end up in Austin: Beau Peterson Brody Bumila Cooper Harris Grady Emerson That’s obviously a huge turnaround from what I reported earlier in the week, which was that Emerson was the only one that was a 100% for sure thing. This is a worst case scenario situation for Texas and was not expected to happen. I will go into this more later along with what the plan is now. Will Texas be okay? Absolutely. Does this suck? Absolutely.

Buy or Sell – Eight Days to Training Camp *** Continuing our theme of counting down the days until fall training camp begins with an in-depth look at the 2026 roster, we have a fun topic of discussion today. Eight topics. Eight discussion points. Eight decisions to buy or sell some of the hottest topics from the offseason. *** 1. Arch Manning Sets the Single Season Passing Record In 2008, Colt McCoy set the Texas single season passing record with 3,849 yards in statistically one of the best quarterbacking seasons in program history. Now, this was a prediction I had a year ago that obviously fell flat. But, the topic of discussion is…

Saturday night practice was inside DKR. Time for some notes: - It was the annual donor practice, where major donors get a sneak peak at the Longhorns. - Sark spoke beforehand and emphasized that’s there’s 49 new players from last season. - I spoke to multiple sources so this is a mix of them all. - The play of Justus Terry, Melvin Siani, Zina Umeozulu, and Rasheem Biles was the most commented on to me. - Terry caused repeated upfield disruption. - Siani “was looking to bury his guy” on nearly every snap. According to one source, he may be the meanest of the OLs. - Umeozolu as well as Lance Jackson just “look the part”. Both made pla…

BOOM!!!: 5-star Austin Goosby commits to Texas Texas' top target in the 2026 class committed to the Texas Longhorns Monday. Austin Goosby had been a Texas lean over BYU for weeks, and on Monday the 6-foot-5 combo guard committed to longtime favorite Texas. And he did so on his birthday, and Sean Miller's birthday. The younger brother of Texas starting left tackle Trevor Goosby becomes the fourth commitment in the class, and is ranked among the top 30 prospects in the 2026 cycle. Goosby is a true combo guard with a 6-9 wingspan that has en elite combination of height, length, vertical pop, ball handling and court vision, the understanding of how to effec…

Bo Mascoe Commits to Texas *** Hook ‘Em! Texas and former Rutgers cornerback Bo Mascoe have reached an agreement out of the portal. Mascoe is an incoming senior who was an All-B1G Honorable Mention by the coaches and the media in 2025. Mascoe started all 12 games for the Scarlet Knights and recorded an interception, two forced fumbles and six pass defenses. We had been monitoring this recruitment since Mascoe originally entered the portal in mid-December given the relationship with now Texas CB coach Mark Orphey who had recruited him out of high school and coached him for two seasons at Rutgers. Mascoe met with the Texas staff on Monday and…

It’s official! Arch Manning’s blindside protection is returning to Texas for 2026. Trevor Goosby announces via Instagram that he will be back in burnt orange for his senior season, forgoing the NFL Draft where he had been receiving some day one projections after a fantastic conclusion to the season. On a day where Texas goes out and adds two all-conference talents from the portal, they hold onto their 1st Team All-SEC left tackle for one more season. As Texas turns all its attention towards building the offensive line in 2026, a massive domino falls with Goosby’s announcement. I would argue no one in Austin is having a better Sunday than Arch Mann…

Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with the transfer portal. And that’s understandable. Texas has added 16 players to its roster in less than three weeks. The Longhorns have lost 22 in about the same period of time. The portal is akin to an entire recruiting cycle jammed into a single month. It has been a whirlwind. Texas is still looking to add a couple of players, especially on the offensive line. ** The latest commitment, Markus Boswell, is a the son of former Olympic high jumper (and UT grad) Mark Boswell. Markus played at Lake Travis and was a first-team all district performer in 2023. He then played ball at a prep school for a year bef…

2 seed Purdue vs. 11 seed Texas: An early look Texas will be trying to keep the dream NCAA Tournament run alive on Thursday night when the Longhorns take on the Purdue Boilermakers. Make no mistake, this is the best team the Longhorns will have faced in the NCAA Tournament. Purdue was one of the pre-season favorites to end up in the Final Four For Texas, this is the second time in the last four seasons the Longhorns have advanced to a Sweet 16 with the last being the Elite 8 appearance in 2023. Sean Miller became the only first year coach at Texas to lead the Longhorns to the Sweet 16 with the Saturday win over Gonzaga. The game 2 seed Purdue (29-8) vs. 1…

For this week’s OTF Sideline Debate, the crew picks one past Texas player in their prime that would most help the 2026 Longhorns. The caveat being: They can’t be an all-time Texas great, because obviously adding a player like Derrick Johnson would make any team better. So we strayed away from players that won national awards, at least as much as we could. Also, this is from the last 25 years to limit the pool and help translate to today’s game. Take a look: Bobby Burton — Jamaal Charles Of players from the last 25 years, I’d love to see what Sark could have done with Jamaal Charles. Imagine Jamaal running outside zone. There’s no telling how many e…

OnTexasFootball can confirm the move made by Steve Sarkisian to hire Rutgers CB Coach Mark Orphey to the Texas staff, first reported by OrangeBloods. Orphey has been the corners coach at Rutgers for the last three seasons, earning a raise in 2023. Previously at Montana State, Orphey coached four players to all-conference honors in the Big Sky Conference. And while at South Carolina, he coached four players to all-conference honors, including Chris Lammons and Al Harris Jr. The 36-year old corners coach hails from North Shore High School in Houston, a place familiar with producing top notch DBs. Could Steve Sarkisian go back to Georgia Tech for his running back coach position? That was a possibility that was passed along to me on Sunday. Norval McKenzie is a name to know in the Longhorns' RB Coach search. McKenzie is currently the running backs coach and run-game coordinator at Georgia Tech. He had previous stops at Vanderbilt (2021-2022), Louisville (2019-2020) and spent three seasons prior at Arkansas State (2016-2018) as the running backs coach and special teams coordinator. On top of that, OTF believes current Nebraska RB Coach EJ Barthel is worth monitoring as well. Of course, there are likely additional candidates in the market vying for th…

Typically I would save this for the Friday Roundup, but it deserves some discussion today. Monday, head coach Steve Sarkisian announced WR DeAndre Moore would see limited time in spring practice due to injury. An injury OTF later discovered was a toe injury that was cleaned up after lingering around for the back end of the season. As a result, the Longhorns are down to one receiver on the roster for the spring with a career reception as a Longhorn. Before getting into spring portal predictions or where the Longhorns will go to supplement the room, the youngsters on roster will get their best crack at forming good impressions with the staff and earning time on t…

SEC Tournament Quarterfinal: Texas vs. Tennessee Game Thread Texas once again beat little brother in meaningful game Thursday. The Longhorns beat the Aggies 94-89 in double overtime Thursday to advance to the quarterfinal round of the SEC Tournament today at 2:30 central. And now, it's hello old friend time with Rodney Terry and Rick Barnes set to lead their teams with the winner advancing to the semifinal. With the back-to-back Quad 1 wins, the Longhorns are very likely in the NCAA Tournament win or lose today. That would be a Field of 68 play-in game scenario with ESPN's latest Bracketology having Texas playing North Carolina. With a win today, Texas would mo…
