Five-star cornerback and Texas commit John Meredith III has reclassified to 2026 and will join the Longhorns this fall, OnTexasFootball has learned. He’s now part of a 26-man high school class the Longhorns signed that ranked No. 7 in the country. It’s remains unknown where Meredith’s ranking will place after the move, but the 6-foot-2, 175-pounder is considered one of the top prospects regardless of class. Based on what we’ve seen in the first three games of this year, the Texas football season appears at a crossroads. I didn’t think we’d possibly arrive here until after the Florida game or perhaps after Oklahoma. Yet the outright dysfunction of the offense has accelerated the timeline. The quarterback is not throwing on time - or accurately - often enough. At times, he looks bewildered and/or overmatched. The running game lacks any real punch. Texas has found their QB for the class of 2026! Dia Bell, out of American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has committed to The University of Texas. The big decision of the 2026 class at the quarterback position has been decided. Texas hosted several quarterbacks June 1 for the Elite Camp — most notably Bell and California QB Troy Huhn. Though, we now clearly know where the Longhorns opted to go with their QB spot in the 2026 class.
