Sorry for the site being down most of the night. It was part of our server migration for greater capacity. ** Texas will host multiple official visitors today. Cal all-conference linebacker Cade Uulave is one of those. A three-year starter, he totaled 97 tackles in 2025. He is a true fit for the Horns and Will Muschamp. ** Speaking of Muschamp, the new defensive coordinator has been busy. As many are aware, Texas freshman linebacker Bo Barnes entered the portal yesterday. Muschamp was unaware of the move prior. Muschamp spoke with Bo and his father yesterday evening. And Barnes was contemplating returning to Texas next season with the ex…

Texas Hoops: NCAA Tournament berth in clear sight after win at Missouri The Texas Longhorns enter the week with an NCAA Tournament berth in clear sight after winning at Missouri Saturday night. With the win, Texas climbs to 7-5 in SEC play with the target number at 9 conference wins to make the Field of 68, and very likely avoid the play in game. Texas will be favored in two of the last six games for sure, including Tuesday night in Austin vs. LSU. This is truly a one game at a time scenario for the Longhorns. You can undo plenty of work the last month if you get upset Tuesday night. Should Texas win against LSU, then 9-9 looks like a very strong bet needi…

Five-star cornerback and Texas commit John Meredith III has reclassified to 2026 and will join the Longhorns this fall, OnTexasFootball has learned. He’s now part of a 26-man high school class the Longhorns signed that ranked No. 7 in the country. It’s remains unknown where Meredith’s ranking will place after the move, but the 6-foot-2, 175-pounder is considered one of the top prospects regardless of class. Meredith joins a corners class that includes Samari Matthews and Hayward Howard Jr.. Five-star receiver Jermaine Bishop Jr. has also taken snaps at cornerback this summer, but is expected to contribute at wide receiver as a freshman. UT also added Bo Mascoe…

Texas vs. Virginia Game Thread: Virginia wants to throw a block party in Austin The Texas Longhorns take on Virginia tonight in the SEC/ACC Challebge. Both teams have first year coaches, and are off to impressive starts to the season. This game tonight will likely be looked back upon as a key Quad 1 win opportunity for two potential NCAA Tournament fringe teams. This game will be played with a lot of pace. The Longhorns are averaging 90.9 points per game, while the Cavaliers average 87.6 per game. Virginia is one of the nations top shot blocking teams, averaging 8.0 per game led by two of the nations individual leaders. The game... Texas (6-2) vs. Virgi…

Texas Hoops: Sean Miller putting together the tallest roster ever at Texas Sean Miller and staff added 7-foot-1 international center Lewis Obiorah Saturday, adding to what is now very likely the tallest roster in Texas basketball history. The Longhorns have added six new players to the roster with two more spots available to be filled. The six players added are 7-foot-1, 7-foot, 6-foot-10, 6-foot-8, 6-foot-7 and a 6-foot-4 combo guard. The additions, along with keeping 6-foot-8.5 forward signee John Clark in the fold and retaining 6-foot-9 Nic Codie, 6-foot-6 guard Tramon Mark and 6-foot-3 guard Chendall Weaver has created the tallest/longest roster I have seen …

Based on what we’ve seen in the first three games of this year, the Texas football season appears at a crossroads. I didn’t think we’d possibly arrive here until after the Florida game or perhaps after Oklahoma. Yet the outright dysfunction of the offense has accelerated the timeline. The quarterback is not throwing on time - or accurately - often enough. At times, he looks bewildered and/or overmatched. The running game lacks any real punch. And playmakers - where are they and do the Longhorns actually have any? As a whole, the offense appears to lack an identity, unable to impose its will even on lesser opponents. If that sounds a little harsh or ove…

It is a beautiful day in Fayetteville, Arkansas for some football. About 65º at kickoff, a slight breeze and the first real taste of fall football for the Texas Longhorns this season. No Morice Blackwell Jr. for the Longhorns this morning, he is out with a hamstring injury. 1st Quarter Texas will get the football to begin the game. Let’s see what kind of Ewers and offense we get to start. Wooo, Ewers’ first pass gets deflected but finds Bond for a quick completion. The first offensive drive stalls around the 45-yard line. Texas got a first down but nothing else. Arkansas got home on third and long for a sack. No points for Texas on the op…

Texas has found their QB for the class of 2026! Dia Bell, out of American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has committed to The University of Texas. The big decision of the 2026 class at the quarterback position has been decided. Texas hosted several quarterbacks June 1 for the Elite Camp — most notably Bell and California QB Troy Huhn. Though, we now clearly know where the Longhorns opted to go with their QB spot in the 2026 class. Bell now joins KJ Lacey and Arch Manning as Longhorn QBs to have committed in the month of June, more than a year away from their signing day. View full news story

To: All of you From: Gerry, Rod, CJ, Blake, Matt, Bob, Bryan, Brian, John, Stevie, Tony, Cody and Bobby I know it is Thanksgiving that is supposed to be the day of thanks, of gratefulness. But this year I’m choosing Christmas as that day instead. Remember, on Thanksgiving day Texas hadn’t beaten A&M yet. So I couldn’t very well be thankful two days prior to that game! But then came 17-7 and all was right with the world. 😉 In all seriousness, we at On Texas Football have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season. It was just a little more than a year ago that I decided to start our own business, to begin this journey. For thos…

It’s weeks like this that tell a team what they’re really made of. Texas, with its season goals all but evaporated, plays host to an Arkansas team that is winless in conference play. Arkansas interim coach Bobby Petrino, a talented offensive mind, is making one final run at removing the interim tag from his title. Nothing would help more than a victory over Texas. The Razorbacks have the offensive firepower to test the Horns. Quarterback Taylan Green is a big play waiting to happen and the Razorback run game may actually be the best in the entire conference. It’s the Arkansas defense which has had issues in 2025. They’ve repeatedly given up big plays a…

Good morning OTF! I’m excited to start covering recruiting and the transfer portal for OnTexasFootball! I’ve been with 247Sports for the past four years, the last three of which I covered Texas for Horns247. Before my time at 247, I got my start in the media world doing sports photography and videography across the state and I co-founded TXFBLIFE. From working in the Texas market and competing against OTF over the last few years, I was able to witness the rise of OTF as it became the dominant site in what's a rigorously competitive Texas market. So when Bobby reached out to me about joining the team, it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down. I’m ec…

During Coffee & Football yesterday morning, Gerry and I discussed that signing three of the uncommitted defensive players who were on campus for official visits this past weekend would be categorized as a “good” result given that so many of the players were elite. Well, I’m told Texas feels exceptionally good about their standing with a number of those players. Texas is shooting for a higher hit rate than Gerry and I discussed, possibly five or more. As reporters, we’ll have to show some patience. While a few decisions are being made this week, not all of their announcements may be immediately public (i.e. waiting on specific dates to announce). In sum,…

Best Class Scenario: July 16 edition The Texas Longhorns are knocking on the door of a fifth straight top 5 ranked class after the commitments of 5-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson and the flip of 4-star++ defensive lineman James Johnson from Georgia. Steve Sarkisian and staff have the ability to begin the 2025 season ranked inside the top 5 if they win out for one of the nation's top prospects this weekend. This class will not be complete by the start of the season, however. There will be needs remaining at linebacker, offensive tackle, edge and potentially wide receiver and defensive back for sure. That provides Texas with a high ceiling that could could challe…

HOOK ‘EM! Texas is on the board with their first portal addition of the spring! Former Stanford WR Emmett Mosley V has committed to the Texas Longhorns after a two day visit on campus. Mosley was a surprise visitor to campus on Friday which was broken by our Gerry Hamilton and after meetings with Chris Jackson and Steve Sarkisian, the Longhorns come away with their first portal addition of the spring. The 6-foot-2-inch wide receiver spent just one season at Stanford, though it was a good one. His 48 receptions and six receiving touchdowns set Stanford records for freshmen wide receivers. On top of that, Mosley ended up with 525 receiving yards on the season…

Earlier today, we reported Texas Tech had made a push for Mansfield Lake Ridge offensive lineman Felix Ojo. That continues to be the case. In fact, Tech’s NIL offer to Ojo is said to be larger than that of both Texas and Ohio State. Subsequent to our reporting, two reporters from On3 logged predictions around 6pm this evening for Ojo to pick Texas Tech. However, discussions between Ojo and various teams have continued into tonight, at hours well past when those predictions were placed. Perhaps Ojo opts for more money. Perhaps he doesn’t. But one thing should be made clear. As we’ve mentioned multiple times, the previous days of NIL are now over. E…
